Hi there AT,
I'm writing with the hope you can help me locate a modern pub table. It's actually for my brother, a hip, 34 year old bachelor who has recently taken an interest in making his living space reflect the cool guy he is.
He is seeking a pub table to function as his dining table (probably used more for cocktails, but an occasional meal). We had our heart set on the Brio table from DWR (at left), but the diameter is just too small (24") for 2 people to realistically sit down and eat a meal.
He liked the convertible height, but more importantly, the wood top and metal base. Can you please suggest any alternatives with a slightly larger diameter? Thanks so much! Sara

Okay, this might sound nutty, but I did it recently to enlarge a table that had a fantastic base. How about either removing the top and replacing it with a larger blank... or just clamping a larger blank on top of the existing surface? The latter might be easier and safer, since the top is supported only in the center.
Offhand, I know that Room and Board sells table tops in different sizes. There must be other sources as well.
Do you have one of those restaurant supply stores near you? There's a huge one around the corner from me and they sell everything that restaurants use...from the silverware to machinery to furniture. If I recall correctly, they had a few bar height tables that would accommodate at least three people comfortably. But I don't think they are height adjustable though...
