Good Questions: Cool Wallpaper Resources?

1-27-leni.jpgHello AT,

I'm looking for some cool wallpaper for a project. I loved the article on the wallpaper from the Jan., 5 2005 NYT House & Home Style. However, aside from the Susie Mendive work at Edge, no New York stores were mentioned. Does anyone know of great places here that carry independent/locally designed wallpaper?

Thanks, Clea

Dear Clea, Pardon the short reply, but we're having one heck of a bobbled day.

We believe that the one's to talk to here would be:
Matter in Brooklyn
The Conran Shop
Nest in Chelsea (can't find this link at the moment!)

Also check out this question, that runs along the same lines: Where Can I Look for Non-Trad Wallpaper?

Anyone else?

This is a family friend, Wook Kim, who designs wall paper and was written up in the New York Times. Check out his website www.wookkim.com for samples of his work.

http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2005/01/05/garden/20050106_CURRENTS_SLIDESHOW_1.html

Available at Matter in Park Slope, Brooklyn, (718)230-1150, and at www.wookkim.com.

One-of-a kind, limited edition wallpaper

Enjoy!

That wookkim stuff is some kind of wild! The colors are so saturated! Well, at least on the web. Hopefully in person, too.

most of the really amazing non-traditional wallpaper that you see in elle decor and basically every other design mag out there is from Cole and Son. They sell mostly to the trade... BUT they have an amazing website (www.cole-and-son.com) and you could probably find someone through this website to order it for you.

Check them out.
My fav right now is cow parsely.

I also really like www.flavorpaper.com , but i think I wopuld prefer there stuff in a commercial setting.

This is not local but it is cool. Retro style wallpapers, reasonably priced. They send samples fairly quickly.

Thanks everyone -

Although not locally designed, I found out that Rico is a distributor for http://www.flavorleague.com/flavor/ - cool but expensive. I have yet to see the Susie Mendive work in person. Only saw it on a Small Space, Big Style episode where they showed her Brooklyn apartment and I thought it was amazing.
