Good Questions: Copy of Candace Olsen?

2-9-candace.jpgHello AT,

How can I get a dvd or copy of photo for episode 703 for Divine Design, Candace Olson?

Thanks, Jane

Jane, we feel you pain (sort of). Isn't it frustrating when the networks don't let you have something? Almost everything imaginable is quickly packaged for sale, but HGTV is so stingy about selling DVD's of their shows. Right now at their shop website they are selling only 9 DVD's of partial shows. Crazy, considering they make more of these shows than anyone else.

Anyone got a copy for Jane????? Can we start a secondary market here????

I remember that episode. She did a great job. That episode is coming on again on 4/22-23. If all else fails just tape it. Her shows repeat and repeat and repeat and repe... well, you get the idea.

Aren't there websites on which people upload (perhaps illegally) TV shows and movies? There used to be one called www.shuntv.com but it shut down. I'm sure there are underground ones for those in the know.

Still photos from that episode are featured in the recent "Home" magazine with Candice on the cover... she is a contributor to "Home," which looks light years ahead of what it used to look like...

If it is coming on again (and they always do), I have one of my home computers configured to record TV s othat I can burn it to DVD. I'd be happy to record it for you and pop the DVD in the mail to you. Email me if you're interested.

if you are looking to find out items she used in that epy, they are listed on her website http://www.divinedesign.tv/... speaking of which i can not stand the design for.

It should be noted that while HGTV does not have a large collection of DVDs currently for sale, they do have Mission Organization on sale and there are episodes that feature our Apartment Therapy Hero Maxwell

The only problem with looking on Candace's website is that, like louis said, the design on the website is terrible, nagivation is confusing and slow. Not to mention, the website is slow. But if you've got patience, I think that's the best route if you don't want to pay for it. I'm not sure if they have uploaded all of her other sketches and plans for the rooms from other ep's but they might have by now, who knows.

Ha- I knew what episode you were talking about before I even knew what episode you were talking about, if that makes sense. I clicked on the link thinking,"it was probably that awesome Alice in Wonderland/Frenchy bistro room which ROCKED MY WORLD."

Yeah, I have no idea how to get the video, just wanted to say that I thought that episode was great, too. My husband and I sat there with our mouths open going "too... cute...." And then at the end we sang, "Dwee dauuu, doo dat dat dahhh wayyyyy" along with the credits.

How can we arrange for Candice to share her expert
ideas for our home. We would enjoy her expertise and suggestions to create a more functional arrangement, within the 1570 sq. feet available. We are located in West Hills, CA, the NW end of the San Fernando Valley. We're seniors, married 56 years, and interested in making some changes in our home. Thank you.

Question -
Is there a way to update a kitchen laminated (Matte finish) counter top, that does not include ripping it out? Is there a paint I could use. I am tired of the navy blue, but the counter after 21 years is in excellent condition.

I am an avid fan and try not to miss a show. I'd rather watch a Candace repeat than most of the other show on all of TV. Thank you so much

Any one remember the episode when Candace remodeled a very small basement into a family/guestroom. The only things I remember about this episode that sticks out is that the basement had sort of a ledge around the perimiter. She also had to give them storage and she did that by building shelves w/sliding doors.

posted by Anne on 2006-03-05 09:45:14

I just found it. It is episode 9 of season 1. Paulas basement!

Love It!

Any one hear about Candace's new line of furniture? I read a newspaper article about it (Chicago Tribune) a few months ago. The article said it would be unveiled in the spring. I'm dying to see it...

I love Candace and ALL of her designs! So does everyone else I speak to in the decorating business. Now that I am not working, I am able to watch "Devine Design" every afternoon. I would love to get a DVD of all her episodes, especially now that I am building a new home. I could really use her ideas for a game room.

Because the episodes are inconsistant, we can't figure out at which stage of pregancy Candace seems to be in....pertaining to how many dozens of children she has had during the taping of the show? There is no mention of her life as a mother and wife...the REAL Candace that the rest of us admire. Really! How many pregnant women do we ever see climbing, holding up heavy items and the like? We think she is a role model for the "Can do" women who accomplish much without excuses. We admire her greatly! You did not answer the similar question posted by Evelyn on 4/20/06 @ 2:48 pm so I thought I'd send my own inquiry to see how she is doing and how she is enjoying motherhood. We wish her the very best! Oh....and how about some picks on her own home? Thanks! D.

I would love to see how Candance has her home decorated and learn about her family. Then again, she may be a very private person and that's ok too.
I love her show, and try not to miss any episode if I can help it.
She reminds me so much of my younger sister in looks and mannerism( but not in the decorating category)ha.
The guys she has working with her are great and seem to be al lot of fun to be around.
My best to her and the show!

I love, love, love your talent. You are the only designer I feel that would be able to express what it is I am wanting. I live in Aspen Colorado and haven't seen any work of a designer that I appreciate better than yours. Is there any chance you can come to our area and help me with our rooms??????? Can not wait to hear your response. I do know that God has given you a great gift.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dear Candace, I am desperately seeking design help in our 4o year old small house. My children and I have been through a sewer back-up, oil spill and a hurricane , all of which inflicted much emotional stress on all of us. We have yet to find a contractor that we can trust to make our home liveable until we watched your show. We especially liked the episode where the family liked to entertain their friends and you designed the kitchen and living area to accomplish this. We have yet to invite our friends over as one disaster after another has prevented this. We would gladly appreciate your input or assistance in making our house a HOME. If this is at all possible, please contact us!!! Our house and family really need your Help. Thanks from Nova Scotia.

Mrs. Olson,

HELP!!!!!!!!!Long story short, we have moved to a 3400 sq ft. home three years ago after living in a 950 sq ft. home. The Lord is good. Now we have an almost blank canvas and need desparate assistance on our dining, family room or master bedroom. My mother-in-law moved in with us under hospice care before she pasted away and everything was on hold. My wife adores your work and she will be 50 next year and what a wonderful gift if I could impose on your time and talents. Thanks for your consideration.

I saw in the December 2006 issue of Home there is a sunburst mirror on page 85. I immediately went to the back of the magazine for the resources and it was listed as Elte. I went to that web site and it is no longer there. Do you know who manufactures it or where else can I find it?

The design sketches that appear on the Candice Olsen show Divine Design ...are they done by free-hand or are they computer-generated. If so, what software do you use?

Dear Candace, I know that in a million years out family could never have you as a decorator. But, would you be able to recommend a decorator that is half as great as you in the Santa Barbara California area. Is there anyone remotely as talented as you? We sure could use some direction but are terrified of most decorators. Please let us know. Our family would be so relieved.

Dear Candace, My wife has me changing our paint colors again. Everyone says paint is cheap but my back isn't. We usually use warm colors and in fact are repainting a persimmon bathroom-taupe and a large family/kitchen that is in sage-taupe. She is under the impression more suttle colors are in the future. You can see the bathroom and hallway from in the kitchen and she feel all these colors are confusing. Would you be able to direct us towards a unifying color so this can be the last time we paint for a few years!!!I soooo would appreciate it.

Candace,
Just watched "Exotic Urban Living Room", one of your best I think.

I'd like to know where the BIG CHAIR with ottoman came from (rattan.) The one you put out on the patio outside the living room.

Could you let me know??

Thanks for your time, Cathy
