Good Questions: Cowhide Ottoman Resource?

3-10-ottoman.jpgHello AT,

Hi there, I'm looking for a cowhide (real or faux) cube ottoman. I found this great one in a brown and white pony pattern on sale at Storehouse but it appears to have sold out moments before was going to purchase it. Drat! I was wondering if anyone knew the manufacturer or any alternatives in similar colors (preferably below $300)?

Thanks! Nanda

The real question is -- WHY do you want to buy a cowhide cube ottoman??

Because the ground beef ottomans go bad too quickly.

Yes!! Thanks so much for the designer! I found a store that carries it.

(The reason I want to buy a cowhide cube is obvious - everyone needs a cowhide cube. Plus, I'm obsessed with cube ottomans and my cat loves to sit on cowhide.)

Tat--
I am still in mourning over the Brokeback Mountain ROBBERY at the Oscars. Don't go there. ;)
But I'll wear my cowskin belt for you next AT soiree.

Yay, Nanda, glad we could help. I hate that feeling when you finally commit to a piece of furniture, and it just slips from grasp.

Btw, I am a HUGE fan of all things Gus Modern. Saw them for the first time at ICFF last year. Design Public carries some stuff, but the Gus folks told me that they would sell direct if you couldn't find the pieces you were looking for elsewhere. Was also excited myself to see Gus stuff at Storehouse.

South Beach Style just signed on as Florida's exclusive Gus Modern dealer.

I too became a huge fan of Gus Modern, back before they were Gus Modern. They're Toronto based and fortunately for me they are affiliated/own/partner with a retail shop a block from my loft (www.stylegarage.com) I had them do a custom version of their Blythe ottoman about 6 months ago... love it! Over the last year their stuff has been showing up all over the place... www.roomandcompany.com just started carrying their product and are currently offering free shipping.

ABC Carpet (B'Way @ 18th St.--the carpet store, not the home store) has a large assortment of cow hide pillows and I think cubes. Just saw them all yesterday, 3/12/06, on the main floor across from customer service desk.

Gus modern ia abit of a sham in my opinion,We carried their line in our retail store where we promote North Amercian based design oriented manufactueres, which they promote themselves as, however it turns our most of the items are suprise, suprise MADE IN CHINA.
I also love the way the pitch their Delano chair as a GUS original-the origial was made for Thayer Coggin by Milo Baugham..
