i like your side table. but if you don't, you should be able to find any of the others you mention, in your budget, on ebay or craigslist. it might take a month or two, but it will happen.

if you want additional seating, i'd go with a low bench under the window. examples by florence knoll, bertoia, or risom would all work. again via ebay or craigslist.

lighting is tougher. i find the large arc floor lamps a little cliche....though your space and furniture is screaming for one. how about a prouve potence? definitely worth the splurge.

First of all, the flokati is a nice choice! I would suggest moving the Eames to the other side of the entertainment unit. Place two benches like these:

For additional seating, I'd consider a window seat bench, maybe L shaped, which doubles as a bookshelf. (Maybe an Ikea hack?) If you have nice structured seat cushions it should be comfortable enough, and a shelf underneath for books reinforces the "reading nook" idea, as well as adding some weight to the corner. (Nice for viewing the city, too...)

Some kind of arced floor lamp in scale with the chair would be nice. I have an Ikea lamp (can't remember the name) which I like, but it might be too small to work well with the chair.

I think a side table with more rounded lines would work better with the chair -- and maybe a bit bigger. But that could be a personal choice...

I'm also picturing a bench for additional seating, but it doesn't really meet your comfy requirement.

What about a small expedit on its side pushed agianst the wall in between the chair and the sofa? It would define the space a bit more and give you storage for books. Maybe even put some mid-c legs on it. You could of course find something vinatge but i needed a picture, over at UO they also have some clean looking upholstered benches.

I think you need to add a little mix to the space. The very last thing I'd put next to the Eames is a tulip table or an Eames stool. And while I agree that a bench is a good idea by the window, I would avoid any Corbu or Nelson benches. An Indonesian carved bench would work well with the Eames and the rug. For the sidetable, I'd go with a nice round cork one. These ideas may not be your style, but I'm afraid your lovely place will end up looking like a Room and Board showroom. Just my 2 you knows.

Not sure what to do with the side table. I like it but agree its not the best complement for the chair. I also agree that a bench or two is the way to go for exrta seating, but nothing specific comes to mind.

If you are going to choose a floor lamp, I'd go simple as to not take away from the fabulous Eames Lounge.

I think to create a "nook" you need something to physically delineate the space from the rest of the room. A large bookshelf, a decorative screen, or something with a tall back:

I know you didn't ask about this... but those curtains detract from the great space, windows and view. I'd get rid of those and go with blinds...something really great from the Shade Store.com would be my pick.

Lighting

How about a classic tripod floor lamp for the whole space (near the corner) a small bookcase holding a table lamp for ambience, and then an adjustable, floor-based lamp for reading?

A sectional with a chaise on the left-hand side is what I'm thinking - plenty of seating options, comfortable but not slipcover sofa (MG BW) comfy. Something like this:

As for the side table, I'm inclined to drop it, and allow the Eames lounge to enjoy in solitude all the attention it merits.

A simple, low-slung coffee table is what I'm thinking would tie the lounger and sectional together. This one is by Eames as well - perhaps a faux pas, perhaps not - but you'll see the idea.

Our reading nook has the Eileen Gray table next to the Eames chair. It's so cliche that it's almost funny again. Add a Nelson Bubble floor lamp, two Nelson benches and a cowhide rug and I'd think it would be hilarious.

I like the window seat idea, it could be done very simply with IKEA lack shelves (not the floating ones, the ones that are like half an expedit, only chunkier) and then store books in them and put cushions on top (somehow fix them to the shelves so they don't slide when you sit on them). But like others have said, I'm not sure it would fit your comfortability criteria. For the lamp, maybe you could consider a low hanging pendant, even a rice paper lantern. And the table... I think I'd want to go for something similar to what you've got, white with thin metal legs, but round instead of rectangular, and mayby just slightly lower (good luck finding it!). Keep everything in light colours so the Eames stands out. I think the flokati rug is going to pull the whole thing together very nicely! What's the view like?

Whatever your ultimate decision on the table is, my strongest recommendation would be to put it on the OTHER side of the chair. The Eames lounger is a beautiful thing, and it's a shame to cover it up with a white block.

Idea: Modify your Ikea side table! Instead of the white platform, perhaps make a new one. I like the shape of it, and the chrome swoop, but if you gave it a black platform (with a sheen like the upholstery on the chair) or perhaps even a nice wood platform, it would help to unify the chair and table. Make them look more like a "spot" and less like a "chair and table."

I also support the use of a rug, but nothing too flashy. A nice slate color, perhaps? Hard to visualize anything in the way of that chair when I have such a hard time not fetishizing it... >_>

I think an acrylic table would be cool next the the Eames Chair, that way the table can be where ever it is most comfortable, but it will not detract from the Chair. Like this:

I agree with using a bench as an additional seating area in the nook and the above post that recommended an ikea hack. It would be nice if it looked like a built in right at window sill height and would hide the heat registers a bit.

As for lighting, I think the arco light is a bit expected - like a DWR showroom. Something like this would still get the light directed at the book you are reading, but be a bit fresher:

The Arco lamp here would be a serious misfire. It's the wrong scale, totally, for what you are trying to create.

You also want an eye level or lower light source so your beautiful nighttime view doesn't turn into a huge mirror while you are reading...
