Dear Kellie,
The short answer is that we don't, but we do know a great designer named Marla Henderson who works out of San Antonio and suspect that she would be able to recommend someone if not herself.
Anyone else??
The Dallas Designer I see published frequently is Jan Showers.
Pretty sure Dallas has some regional design pubs. Start there for references and/or ads.
And, am sure Dallas has a to-the-trade Design Center, which usually have designer referrals.
Wish I flew to Dallas more!
Dallas has 3 design centers:
Dallas Design Center
Dallas Market Center
The Design District
There is also an interior design dept. at the El Centro College. You could get in touch with them and find a senior design student who would love the chance to do a project just for the experience and for their portfolio.
And, if you have enough moeny to spend, pick your favorite designer, anywhere.
If you pay them they will come.
I think Lauckgroup is one of the best!

Annie - just looked at your blog and I love!! the collection of furniture you show. Wow oh wow!
I live in Dallas & my fav is William-Christopher. Their home was on HGTV's Homes Across America and it was perfect. They are also incredibly nice guys. I also like James McInroe and Julio Quinones. I like bits and pieces of Jan Showers look but not as a whole.
Tippy is on target. James McEnroe and Julio Quinones are both superb and still willing to work with an actual budget.
Jan Showers does beutiful work, but it leans towards the glamourous 1940's French look...lots of mirrored tables and sparkles. If that is your bag, you should talk to her. She likely doesn't take projects that aren't blue chip.
I meant to include:
You also should check out D Home magazine, which is actually a very well-edited local design publication.
www.dhomeandgarden.com
Talk to someone there and see if you can get your hands on their "Gold Pages" which is a supplimental publication that they publish every year. I believe they just published one in late fall.
The Gold Pages includes the "best of the best" of everything, from designers to plumbers to paperhangers. It is a must-have if you are moving to Dallas.
D Home also has a blog... I wonder: if you emailed one of the editors with your request and budget, if they'd be willing to put feelers out on the blog?
I know it might be a bit of a tricky situation since their advertisers ARE decorators and they can't show favoritism, but there might be an ethical way to do it.
Click my name for a link to their blog.
The Art Institute of Dallas also has an interior design program, but I know nothing about it. Here's a link, though, and if your budget is really limited, you could contact them to see if they could recommend a promising student.

Where can I purchase a product called Shark Grit, or does anyone have suggestions (other than carpet)for hardwood stairs. I'd like to keep the hardwood but treat it someone so that my dog has some traction.

Speak to my good friend Dave at david at bornagainfurniture dot com. He also works for DWR in dallas. He's far more modern, experimental and interesting that most of what you'll find in Dallas, my hopelessly behind the times home town.
Not that you'd want to use them for interior renovations - but the two most outstanding modern/contemporary house architects in the Dallas area are Gary Cunningham & Max Levy (seperate offices).

i personally love the work that Emily Summers does. www.emilysummers.com
I think the top Design Firm (and so says House Beautiful) is William-Christopher Design in Dallas, TX (214-616-3631). I have seen their homes and they are really the best. Also a plus is that they are honest and fun people to be around.
I came across one website that I was impressed with:
www.caseylightfootdesign.com
It appears that she is still a student (has one semester left), but I was impressed with her work for a student, so I thought I would pass the link along.
Dallas is loaded with incredible designers and quite a bit of talent. One recommendation is to lean towards the more versatile designers who have more than just one "look" or solution to a particular style of home (ex. Ranch as you metioned). Desiners such as Julio/Juan Quiones are really overated and unschooled when it comes to the real art of design - in fact I have heard he is hard to work with - I recommend Jan Showers or Sherry Hayslip where you will find the most talent in the area. Good LucK!
Looking for designer in Dallas area. Read all the comments above, does anyone have any of those designer's contact number? Thanks. Julio Quinones, James McInroe, Casey Lightfoot, ect?
Bo, funny I've never heard of Jan Beal but I have and know both Julio and James. Both are very talented. Julio worked under one of Dallas's prominent designers for a number of years, and took credit for Julio's designs which were the only ones that were getting him (the "big name") published and recognized. Julio has done my home, and a number of magazines have asked to publish it after having seen his work. Affordable? Very. I wonder why the mayor see's fit to use such a difficult person????
Comments such as Jan Beal should be researched before posting. Especially with plenty of mispelling!!! Get your facts straight!!!
There are many talented designers in Dallas. Design is a personal passion of mine and there are many designers I admire. I will have to say, though, that the comment made by Jan Beal about Julio Quinones was unfair. I have seen many jobs that Julio has done and have been impressed every time. I think that Julio is truly one of the most talented young designers I've ever seen. Many designers, who work with the level of clientele that Julio works with, only work with healthy budgets. What makes him different is that he can take something that is awful looking and utterly inexpensive and make it spectacular. Having the vision to transform things in that way, is truly a special talent. Every designer has a "signature style", i.e. John Saladino, Vicente Wolf, Kelly Wearstler, etc. Clients often choose a specific designer because they love their signature style and that is what they want for their home. By no means, though, does that mean that the designer cannot do other looks. When you want Gucci, you go to Gucci--but, certainly, Gucci could design different looks.
Julio Quinones designed my restaurant, I understand it is very different than the design of a home, but what I can say is that he was a pleasure to work with him. Everything was done in a timely organized manner, came right on budget and it looks fabulous! I would recommend him to anyone!

Well, it's surprising to see that Jan Beal calls Julio hard to work with and then goes and mentions two other people that are known to be a bit of drama. But, come on, we all know every designer has his or her drama moments. Both Sherry and Jan are wonderful talents but I must say Julio really impresses me. I've seen his work in magazines and in person and it is amazing. I highly encourage people to seek him out while he is still affordable.
Does anyone have Julio Q. contact number? I'm in PA but from Texas.
Julio Quinones office number is 214-350-6437.
I was just wondering if you could answer a question for me, and if you can't can you please tell me someone that could...?
I have dark solid green carpet in my living room, and I want to know if a light charcoal gray color would go good with it?
A couple years ago, my husband and I attended a party at a girlfriend's home decorated by Julio Quinones. Some of the decorating was nice, but overall, the home was filled with a hodge podge of thrift store finds. Last year, I saw his bedroom at the Dhome showhouse, which I actually thought was nicely done. I contacted my girlfriend who had used him and she did say that he was difficult to work with and that he really was more focused on putting his "look" on her home than making her home comfortable, but overall, she was pretty happy with things, so I decided to contact his office. I was greated with attitude and was just short of being told that he was way too busy. I am sure that with any designer, there are good and bad experiences, but I would highly recommend researching anyone you hire very well and confirming their credentials - afterall, they are working for you! You can actually check out www.tbae.state.tx.us to confirm that the person really is an interior designer and certified.
Well, Ms. Trish has surely offended her friend, and it is puzzling that she slighted Mr. Quinones yet wanted his services for her home. Maybe she is the one with a dimstore budget and chotchke taste. Mr. Quinones is very selective about his clientelle, and only takes on work that interests him. And with regard to "his" look, isn't that why you would choose someone so visible in the field? It's always painful when you don't make the cut.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Amazing talent, creativity, design and affordability are the most appropriate synonyms for Mr. Julio Quinones work.
I have followed his work very closely.
Like it or not guys, you will have to come to terms and realize the buzzzzz word in design world and a very promising young talent will be "Julio Q".
Wish you all a happy new year and a lot of Mr. Q in your coming years.
