it looks like the bertoia diamond chair wrapped in fabric and padded....

when i lived in minneapolis, i owned a 70s sectional/sofa that was made of solid blocks of styrofoam as the armature, with foam pillows on the seat and back (covered in velour). it was the comfortable-est thing and you could literally toss the pieces of the sectional IN THE AIR.

I wonder if the same company made it... and damn, i wish i knew who, b/c i'd want some of that furniture today!!!

out of curiosity, what other companies did you find that might have made furniture using this type of method? Maybe i can find my sectional again....: )

it sure does resemble a bertoia diamond doesn't it? w/the exception of the legs - much different there. and the weight sounds diff.

i dunno, i was thinking it looks like a teletubby turned into a chair. like sitting on top of a teletubby.

could have been someone's prototype.

thanks everyone for their input! I'm beginning to think that the chair was custom. Polkadot, thanks for the Gaetano reference - that seems to be the closest aesthetic.

edgertor - the method uses polyurethane foam, making it a frameless chair.
