I don't know if you'd be willing to or can even help me, but I'm in the process of ordering a Zanotta Alfa sofa and have a concern about dipping of the sofa in the middle...I have seen ads on Craigslist for used Alfa sofas and it always seems there there could be a slight dip or bend in the center...almost as if the construction of the sofa isn't all that great and doesn't stand up to the test of time too well....do you have any thoughts/experience? I love the way the couch looks but know nothing about the construction quality of Italian modern furniture or more specifically Zanotta?

Cries!!!! I had the Greg series sofa same construction as the Alfa..you will not be disappointed! These babies are built to last a life time. I had to sell my sofa to a friend because of space restrictions, I almost got a storgae unit because I hated to depart with it I am still sick about it. At least my friend has it an is still enjoying it absoluty no problems with the construction it still looks like its off the showroom floor.
I will get one again some day.

I have the same concern with the Petrie from Crate & Barrel.

I also have the Greg sofa that I've had for 5 years now. It is used every day and I have had no problems. I also have the Alfa ottomans that I've had for about 8 years and again they look as if brand new. Zanotta is a quality manufacturer and well worth the price. I highly recommend it. You won't regret it.

Curious to know -- where are you ordering it from? A google search turned up unicahome as the only place to get one.

as a matter of fact, there are quite a few place you can order from....that being said, i found a woman in Italy guaranteeing delivery from Zanotta for somewhere in the vicinity of 3700 USD with an additional 1k shipping...I'm guessing she is using a trade discount....the same one at Unicahome sells for 6k not including shipping.
thanks again for the input people!

Hello
Just to let you know how Zanotta is consructed,All the sofas have a steel frame (where cheaper sofas have a softwood frame) it has straps which run from back to front(most sofa from side to side) over that distance you get dipping. and then the cushions sit on the frame, this makes most zanotta sofas very heavy. All covers are removeable. i have done quite a bit of information digging before i bought my kilt sofa. I went to a found store called scossa online, got it shipped and well happy.
hope this helps any one after zanotta
