Good Questions: Folding Ceiling Fan?

11-8-airlift2.jpgHello AT,

I've been looking for a ceilng fan that doesn't look like a conventional ceiling fan. About a month ago, I saw one online where the blades actually folded up into a light fixture when it wasn't in use. I thought I saved the site, but haven't been able to locate it and now I'm starting to wonder if I imagined the whole thing. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Sarah

Sarah, we just spent 15 minutes looking for this and can't find it either. It was about two or three weeks ago...in our slinks...a fan that folded up when not on...We can SEE it in our minds eye.. AHHHHH just found it: The Monte Carlo Airlift.

I just saw a ceiling fan that is an air filter - it looked like a big copper disc with a small light fixture in the middle

I'm not in the market, but it's pretty interesting

I love the Artemis Fan on the g2art.com site. Since the blades are clear you won't see them when the fan is on. Pretty cool.

Check out the Enigma Fan at Lightology- it has a single blade.

I love several of the Ron Rezek models for The Modern Fan Company. They look like fans all the time, but handled beautifully.

Very nice! Does anyone know if I can install this without the 6" downrod? I have a rather low ceiling and I don't think I can afford to lose the 6" space in addition to the 25" height of the unit itself.

Thanks you!! I was considering the artemis fan too. I just really don't like the look of traditional ceiling fans, but the alternatives tend to be so expensive. I may end up having to splurge a bit on this after all.

Yeah, I love the Artemis too. Question for you all though... It's 58" wide!! We have a huge living room with 14' ceilings, but I still feel it might be ridiculously big! What do you all think?? Thanks for the advice!
