Hello AT,
I have been reading for site for a few months now...so forgive me if I have missed this, but do you have any suggestions on where to buy nice futon and or sofa coverings? I have both which are very functional but very ugly.
Thanks, Josh
We very much like West Elm's futon covers, and for sofa coverings we don't have a silver bullet. However, we would look here:

I use an "old school slipcover" guy where I live in Philadelphia, costs about $300 for a standard sofa not including fabric, a sofa takes about 10+ yards of Fabric, if you are lucky you can find decent fabrics for under $10...
the danish firm innovation does really brill covers for their mattresses which are futon shape. check them out on west houston...and on the website where you can download the catalogue and mix and match
If you're looking for a place where you can just pick up a futon cover, there's a store on the corner of 13th Street and University (near Union Square) that has a ton of futon covers in stock for $30 - $90.
I got a simple black twill one there recently for a queen size futon for $40. They seemed to have a pretty decent variety of colors and textures, but their best selection was for standard (double) sized mattresses.

Just got mine a month ago, so I can vouch for quailiy but not durability. But they sent fabric samples without hassle and were half the price of my local shops.
Surefit probably offer the best selection. They currently have their end of season clearance which is certainly worth a look.
Best of luck
Caroline

Hi, not sure if you're still shopping for a cover. I think there is a similar post to this one that I have also commented on. If you're still looking for a futon cover, we purchased ours through http://www.futonsnow.com
What we liked is that we could customize the thickness of the cover to fit our mattress as our first cover we got from target just seemed to swim over the mattress, it was really baggy. This one has worked out great for us and they had a nice selection. (Not that I wasn't open to a couple of other sites as well at the time.)
This was a few years ago but I'm sure you can still find them.
Take care and good luck in your search.
