Hello AT,
This coffee table was listed on craigslist (for, cough, $60) and I was heartbroken when I missed the opportunity. Not only is the vintage design stunning, it's size is perfect for my small apartment. 36"W, 18"D, 14"H. It's a long shot, but can anyone think of where similar tables can be purchased. If only I can find such a beauty then perhaps I could concentrate on my work again.
Thanks, Nathan

Hey Nathan!
It looks like a pretty simple coffee table style. Perhaps you could find one similar and paint it the black and white?
That looks suspiciously like a Heywood Wakefield coffee table (or knock-off) that's been painted. Check out the Aristocraft Coffee Table at Boomerang - http://www.boomerangmodern.com/living_room.htm - dimensions that the list are 36"d x 19"w x 16"h, it's the second row, third column.
looks a little like a paul mcobb planner group table (made by calvin furniture) that has a really ugly paint job.
there's always 2 or 3 of those on ebay.
Thanks for the comments so far, this site is great!
'Really Ugly Paint Job' LOL
While I like the Aristocraft coffee table, for me, it's too round on the edges, giving it that very typical 50s feel. The element I like about the one posted, besides the ugly paint job, is the sharp tapered sides. Very speed racer.
I will continue to go through e-bay to see if I can find one, there has been nothing similar posted since I got hooked on it. About a week.
If anyone has any other thoughts on coffee tables in this style, or others around this size, I would be most indebted to the author.
I second Laura II -- just look for a Heywood Wakefield coffee table and then paint it. If you keep looking on ebay and craigs you should be able to find one for relatively little money. Definitely consider one that needs refinishing. Since you're planning to paint it why pay more for one that's been restored?
If you're willing to pay a little more than the original $60, you can always try posting on CL and offering to buy it. Lots of times people get something home and love it less than they did two hours ago. The new owner may be willing to part with it, if you make it worth their while. Just a thought.
Nathan,
I have a Heywood Wakefield coffee table in near excellent condition that looks like that (without the paint). You can drop me an email -- mizshem@hotmail.com
