Hello AT,
Where can I find this couch/loveseat? The picture is from the flagship
store of the Orla Kiely store in London. I'm obsessed!
Thanks, Randi

yea, i'm hot for this sofa, too. however, i saw it elsewhere.
where you may want to check, if you can get your hands on it, is a back issue of DOMINO magazine, maybe about 6 issues ago; the couch is featured in the apartment of a female clothing designer (sorry, vague) who i believe maybe be a london-born, us designer. it's a 5 page spread, there could be info on the sofa there. hope this helps, as vague as it is.

Sorry, not sure where to find the couch in the US. But check out AT Chicago for ideas on recreating Orla's look on a budget:

Hi-
There was a couch similar to that one in DOMINO in July/August 2006 issue, page 52. The one in the story must have been an antique or unavailable. The one similar to it was called "Zost" from Property (917) 237-0123. It was listed then at $5,500. Maybe someone knows of something similar that costs less. Good luck!

I think this is a vintage sofa.

There are very similar-looking vintage pieces at MODERNLINK in NoHo (on Bond).

Hmm...The Zost is definitely out of my price range, but I appreciate all of the help. I do have the issue of Domino, but as scrappy girl said, it looks to be vintage.
I'm sure someone found this at some flea market on the cheap. I never seem to be that lucky.

frontiersperson, the article in Domino was about the same woman mentioned in the question, Orla Kiely. She has the same sofa in her home and in her shop. (Or maybe it's only one sofa, moved back and forth, but I think they are slightly different shades of blue.)
In this interview, she says:
"At one end of the kitchen we have a little '60s sofa that I bought in a shop on Brick Lane."
At any rate, it seems to have been inspired heavily by Eero Saarinen's womb sofa. I don't believe he ever had a model with wooden legs, but the shape is very close.

I see these on Ebay about 4 or 5 times a year - just do a search for mid-century modern sofa or loveseat.
You also might want to check out modemoderne in Philadelphia - they carry vintage pieces and they will also make a similar sofa for around $2,000. www.modemoderne.com

A good facsimile would be this Urban Outfitters couch. http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=-1774953318479723568&itemdescription=true&itemCount=8&id=13349329&parentid=A_FURN_SALE&sortProperties=%2Bproduct.marketingPriority%2C-product.startDate&navCount=2&_D%3AnavCount= &navAction=poppush&color=00&_DARGS=%2Furban%2Fcatalog%2Fcommon%2Fitemlink.jsp
Reupholster it and it would be perfect and it's only $299 right now.
