Good Questions: How Can I Find These Chairs?

6-30-chairs.jpgHello AT,

I love the design of these chairs. I have Googled to no avail and have no idea where to find similar looking chairs. I found nothing similar on Ebay or Craigslist with any information. Could you please give me any information concerning where to find information about similar looking chairs?

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! Genesis

These are clearly mid-century or danish modern. I do see chairs like this on eBay from time to time (using the ubiquitous "eames" title search). Since they are not by a major designer (that I know of) it will be impossible to search any other way. It may take a while, but if you really have your heart set on this style, let patience by your guide!

Room & Board has a chair of somewhat similar shape, the Arnez: http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/coll.do?coll=RB2163&dept=RB159

The in-stock fabric is a striped chenille, but you can order it in anything.

Why not have them custom made to your taste...

Here's another similar chair at Room & Board:

They appear to be a knock-off of a Dux chair from the 1960's. Here's a picture of the originals from a Treadway/Toomey auction last year: http://www.treadwaygallery.com/ONLINECATALOGS/MARCH2005/modimages/1073.jpg

It is lot #1073 on this page: http://www.treadwaygallery.com/ONLINECATALOGS/MARCH2005/1001-1100.html

I'm not sure who designed it but it really is a beautiful chair. I've been coveting these for years!

If you watch Ebay you will certainly find similar chairs. Use the antique furniture finder, and use the "mid-cenury modern" category to sort them. Watch the Ebay store TS and Company, they frequently have similar chairs. It appears to me that they have some similar listed now (not quiet as nice, though).

Hi all-
Thanks for all the help.

The picture is from a guy selling the chairs far from where I live, but he didn't know anything about them except that they came with the medical practice he bought. Since he doesn't want to ship them, I guess finding something similar on eBay will be my best bet!

Charlie- Thank you for the links! What a breathtaking chair! I'd love to find a chair with an ottoman like the Dux.

Try ebay. I bought some beautiful danish modern chairs like this and for good price. also try the grace chair at Room and Board. Its similar but not the same. my friend who is an interior decorator was quite impressed by these chairs.
Grace Chair in Thickett ---room and board. Laugh at me but urban outfitter has a similar chair called your father's chair or something like that. good luck.

You're welcome Genesis!

Auction houses can actually be a good place to find deals on furniture without "name" designers attached. That chair/ottoman set sold for only $500.
