Its referenced as a custom fabric treatment but really, if you call Zarin's store, isn't she the type that would give you a swatch?

go to the store and get all of the blues. bring it home and match it to the pic on the computer or tv. put the color sample on the wall to see if it has the same effect in your room.

check out Ralph Lauren's "suede" texture paints. I don't think a flat blue is going to give you what you want.

It is nearly impossible to guess the exact color because it will appear differently on every monitor and television. A paint color will also change slightly depending on lighting.

I do have a few suggestions for you though. The blue in the image you provided seems to be very rich with a subtle undertone of red. AKA a warm blue. No second rate paint will do. You need the good stuff. Ralph Lauren, and Benjamin Moore both have great, rich colors and I would start your search there. Look for something that isn't too primary, nothing out of a crayon box.

Seriously, I think that Brad Boles works at the Zarin's store. Maybe you call there and ask him what paint/treatment he used.

Color will appear different at different times of day, under different lighting types and conditions and even wth different cans of paint.

Go to the paint store and choose the one that gives the effect that you like.

I've never really know a set decorator to use "over the counter" paint colors on a set. They usually select from the big Pantone book and have the color custom matched.

Using the color utility on my mac, I came up with an estimated RGB profile of .4157, .5137, .6314 and a CMYK profile of .5131, .2966, .1092, .0096. There used to be a website called easyrgb.com which would match these numbers to a similar paint tint, but the site appears to no longer exist. If you require a literal copy of the color in the room, you might want to go to a pro paint shop that can match up a quart from the rgb or cmyk profile and start from there.

Your impression of the color on a wall will probably be different than your impression of the color in the picture. Too light, too dark, too blue, too purple, whatever. But it gives you a place to start.

If exact duplication is not required, you will probably arrive at a quicker, easier solution if you just go to your local paint shops, pick some swatches that match your recollection or impression of the color, and start from there.

If you blow up the picture to a really large size, you can see that the walls aren't really just one color---glazing has happened. (Look especially at the protruding corner to the left of the window in the center of the picture.) I think the only way to nail this coloration is to track down the perp and ask.

I have wondered about the silver butterfly lamps in this room ever since I saw them in an episode.

The room appears in the May issue of Traditional Home. According to the resources, the wall and ceiling are custom by Thomas Blee-Carlyle through Zarin Fabrics (212 925-6112). In the magazine photo, you can see that the walls are not actually a single tone; it almost looks like venetian plaster.

As for the lamps, they are the "Farfalla" at uttermost.com.

Easyrgb is back up. I ran the numbers and it came up with a very close match to Benjamin Moore #831 or #834.

Anyone have any idea from where the area rug came?
