Hi Apartment Therapy, My neighbor is moving and is selling this fabulous chair set — to me! I absolutely adore them, and regardless of their origins I would like to know a little more... Does anyone recognize them? The dealer who sold them to her years ago said that they were Knoll. Thanks!

I can almost postively identify these as coming from my dentist's waiting room when I was a kid. Not very helpful, sorry, but am having unpleasant flashbacks and a sudden urge to floss...

These don't look like Knoll. It might help to send this picture to a few different showrooms that sell furniture (like at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago) and ask them if they know the designer or have any similar pieces.

Do you know the paint colour of the wall behind your fab new chairs?

In the right setting your chairs will look fantastic. I am a big fan of reuse, and recycle for the sake of design. Congratulations on your wonderful find!

Thonet?

Have you looked to see if there is a tag on the bottom to indicate who made it?
The foot stools don't look like they are part of the chairs, in large part due to their different styles and one of them is way out of scale for the chairs which are not the kind to need footstools generally anyway.
I would guess they got recovered at some point and 2 other items were covered to "match".
They might be thonet, but might not, I highly doubt they are Thonet but can't say for certain as I"m not familiar with his work like I am w/ Eames and such.

These are similar to some Thonet pieces, but I suspect they are knockoffs.
