Good Questions: Identify this Armchair?

I found this chair and really need to find its twin. Has anyone seen a chair like this? Thanks. Brian

This looks like a "Mister" chair - the type that was sold in the 50's and 60's as a set with a lower-backed "Missus" chair...

your chair is a 1950-60's "high boy" lounge chair, also called a his, father, husband, mister or king chair.

many designers made them and yours has traits (scale, boxiness/angles, exposed wood) similar to mccobb,robsjohn-gibbings, baughman, and wormley for dunbar, though it isn't by any of them.

as bepsf says it was paired with a smaller back chair for a set, but a lot of current design involves pairing two mister or missus chairs to create a pair. finding an exact match will be tough, even if you find the maker, but similar companions can be had for $200-1500 plus shipping on ebay. less on craigslist if lucky. much more via 1stdibs or dealers. room and board has two or three models which will work with yours (the cole and the meade among others).

an equal pair:

good luck.

I actually like the idea of pairing it with a similar as given in the links (really good work, healthyhome, impressive).
I would instead use a similar shape/height chair
Use with the same fabric.
It will be fantastic, interesting and beautiful.

For what it's worth, this chair stands alone.
