Hi, I would be very glad if you could help me. When browsing trough Borastapeter webpage I found a picture of a collection called Plain stripes. On that picture is a lounge chair and an ottoman. What chair is it and where could I find a similar one? Thanks in advance, Karin

Looks like a knockoff of the Eames lounge chair.

Could be a Plycraft piece.

@ heatherbelle
looks nothing like the Eames Lounge Chair. The base is different, the upholstery is different, the proportions are different... it's a very nice chair unto itself.

Oooh...that's gorgeous!

I absolutely love it. But I'm thinking it's got to be $$$$$$.

I don't know what it is, but it's very pretty!

heather I thought it looked similar to the eames also...
the head rest part and the molded wood under the seat part..
but I have no design experience

Definitely an homage to the eames lounge, but I very nice chair in its own right. And probably very, very expensive too.

^agree with farmhousemoderne. looks like an update of a George Mulhauser lounge chair for plycraft.
here's a vintage one: http://flickr.com/photos/gmo/3324373085/

this one is going for $450 (?) at home anthology. it looks to be in great condition.
Description from website: Plycraft Lounger with Ottoman Paying homage to the classic Eames 670, this Plycraft lounger has a higher back (great for taller folks) and tilts. Vinyl shows signs of wear. Great piece to re-do in a fabric of your choice.

wow, i really like that.
Dare I saw I like the base possibly more then then eames?
looks like it might fit in a room a bit better then the original since it has actual legs and not the swivel base etc.
Very nice.

I suspect that this chair is not an actual vintage piece, eames, plycraft, or otherwise. Rather, the chair in the photo above is a contemporary update (manufactured today, probably by a European-based designer) of the eames leather lounge chair and otto.

it looks more like the lovechild of an eames lounge and some sort of wing chair (wegner ox of CH445) than just the plycraft eames knockoff. this one seems to have more of an identity.

how on earth did you find that, automatic? I bow down to you.

i can't find that chair anywhere, but came across loads of designs & designers. my guesses:
1) it's a Walter Knoll piece. the base is like an Andoo lounge chair, but the top is a weird hybrid of either Bob/Oscar/Flow lounge chairs.
2) Eero Saarinen - it's very much like the womb or grasshopper chairs.
3) Jan Wegner designed the papa chair and wing chair. these are close, as well.
sorry if these only confuse more ...

Impressive, automatic! That fuzzy brown upholstery is truly horrendous.

daaaaaaaaang, automatic ... you kick *ss! well done. you're like the design oracle.

I saw it in person when I was in Sweden before Christmas, mixed emotions is probably the best description. Repulsion and desire at the same time. But I am sure that repulsion is the emotion that dominated in the end... there is so much nicer Swedish design out there. Bruno Mathsson's Jetson is pure desire, it looks amazing in a picture but much better in person and it is so comfortable!

Great find! I like the Time Out chair better myself: Make mine with a Walnut Shell and legs, and Tomato-Red wool upholstery...

I like the way the Time Out armchair looks in the picture on this page, but the other view that automatic found leaves me wanting, even discounting the brown fuzz. Too bad, it had a lot of potential.

The store images sure do kill it. Bad material choices...
Needs the felty fabric with swivel metal base. The wooden legs are horsey.

Here is a similar chair without the wood legs-

I love this chair but the official site pictures with that wooly fabric kill it for me.
