Good Questions: Identify This Color from CB2?

11-12-cb2-teal.jpg

I am not sure who to contact about this question...any chance you might be able to find out the name of the ridiculously gorgeous green-blue color wall on page 72 of the new CB2 catalogue? The color is so exquisite! Thanks! Jessa

I used a very similar color in our basement. The one I used was by Benjamin Moore called Lakeside Cabin Blue.

Very similar to our new bedroom color, Blue Echo, from the Affinity line of Ben Moore. Depending on the lighting of the photo it could be Schooner, too...

It looks like Behr's 'Distance (540f-6)' which is from Home Depot. The lighter "Shale Gray" is nice too.

You can take the catalog photo to your paint store and have it color matched. But believe me, the liklihood that the wall color you see in the photo is the same as seen on set in person is slim to none. Artificially bright lights, flash, color correction, and web-press colors will have changed the final image you see dramatically. You're better off shopping for swatches that match what you see.

Our kitchen is this color! I think the color we picked was from Ralph Lauren but paint is Benjamin Moore.

Here are pics... colors change with light. :)

Don't take anyone's word for it. Everyone is judging from monitors that may or may not be reflecting the actual color. Take the page to Home Depot, Lowe's, or your local paint store and have them match it. The name of the actual paint color doesn't matter. You are reacting to the color on the page. Match to that. Between photoshop and printing disparities, the actual color might not even look like what you are seeing on that page.

Oh, and start with a quart. You may find the color works differently in your real life room than on a lit, propped photo set.

That looks close to what I just painted my kitchen, which is Benjamin Moore's Fiji (from the Affinity palette).

Don't worry about what exact color this is. Go to your paint store and pick out a bunch of blues in the same range. Make sure you hold them up against things in YOUR room--the woodwork, floors, and furniture. Put the samples up on different walls at different times of day and with different lighting. You'll find one you love as much as this without obsessing about copying something that is really hard to duplicate.

100% agreement with the color accuracy concerns. I would never run out and buy a paint color by name simply because it looks gorgeous in a photo. Go get paint chips and bring them home and try to find a color that comes close to that *effect* in your own home. Even if a photo could show the color accurately (and it can't), the light in your own home will make it look very different.

The color is Benjamin Moore #2129-40 "Normandy". I work at CB2...just remember that the color as it's printed in the catalog will always be a little different in person.
