earlier this year. I wasn't even aware of your blog until the person who bought my very last item told me that my listing was being featured on your blog that day. :) (All my furniture was sold in one day.) I moved from NYC to London, so I'm a wee bit far from NYC, but seeing that you have a lot of knowledgeable mid-20th century furniture enthusiasts, I was wondering if you could help solve my 2-part question...

I recently purchased this footstool/coffee table second-hand from a store that specializes in Danish furniture. The store people didn't know who manufactured it. The table doesn't have any markings. As you can see from the first photo, the top flips to serve as a footstool or a table. Does anyone know who designed or manufactured this table?
I don't like the upholstery, so I am thinking about having it reupholstered. It's going to sit in a small study in front of a small brown sofa (where the red square is in the second photo). Any suggestions, advice or inspirational photos/links you can share would be greatly appreciated!

We don't know the designer of the stool, but we do have an opinion on the fabric choice. Your studio is lovely and the red square you drew in makes a big difference in "coloring up" the room. Accordingly we think you should go with BRIGHT color in the fabric of that stool.
For inspiration we would look at the Brits, who are great with strong, contradictory color that just works. To see some examples of this, take a tour of the Rug Co's website. We particularly like the hot pink in their banner - which we stole for our ATLA banner color.

I would like to see, not so much bright, but rich color in there. Is there an area rug you can pick up a color from? I'd love a nice burgundy or plum to warm up that space a little bit.
How about using that orangey-red of the stool in the background? Such a nice, bright, rich color would be lively and fit right in.
Also, I'd recommend putting up something big and colorful on that back wall, above the photos you've tacked up. Maybe you could find a piece of art to hang there, and then get the inspiration for the color of the fabric out of that.
I agree with matching the fabric of that orangey-red chair in the background.
