Good Questions: Maison Bagues Style Cocktail Table?

12-5-bagues-table.jpg

Hi. I am looking for a Bagues-style cocktail table (NOT side/accent table), or similar 1940s French cocktail table with gold/bronze finish and a glass or mirrored top similar to these photos. Nothing too ornate, and hopefully something that is less than $1100. Thanks so much! Cheers, Pinknest

Perhaps the Mirror Lake Cocktail Table from Martha Stewart with Bernhardt is an option? You could win it with this week's giveaway! Anyone else?

Q: When did they become "cocktail tables" instead of "coffee tables"?

A: You're a drunk.

They were called Cocktail tables a popular term for the table in the 1930-50's.. Some residential furniture showrooms in the design marts still call them cocktail tables.

Now you would not want Cary Grant in his dinner jacket sipping a martini at a coffee table would you?

mmmmmm cocktails.

I think this is a great look, and regency would be a good search term, as well as, gilt, and bronze.

I agree, ebay has some fanastic "cocktail"tables. You may want to find a store that carries Worlds-Away, they also have reasonable brass with either xbase or conenected antiqued brass legs. Seeif you can access www.worlds-away.com goodluck! ps, In the D&D building they still use the term cocktail table, so dont feel bad.

The Cosmopolitan table from Williams Sonoma home is handsome, classic, and under $1,000. Nickel finish, though.
