Good Questions: Marimekko Upholstery Resource?

1-31-mari.jpgHello AT,

I've been having problems finding a store online that sells marimekko
upholstery fabric, specifically the pvc coated ones. I am in New
York City, so I wonder if there is a store that sells to the public
here. Trying to recover some heywood wakefield dining chair seats.

Thanks! Sarafina

I don't know about local, but if mail order is OK, then check out Textile Arts. I've used them and they're quick.

Someone wrote to me asking the same question this week and I sent them over to Kiito's.

My personal experience with them last August was EXCELLENT. I had inquired about a Marimekko product and dealt with Josie. She delivered professional, friendly, and extremely helpful (and prompt) service via email. I was so impressed.

I point everyone to Kiito's whenever I can.

Here's the email I have on file for them:

Hope this helps!

I assume that Kiitos has access to all Marimekko fabrics but the shop is disappointing.

I would suggest Textile Arts or FinnStyle (www.finnstyle.com) to view fabrics / order online.

Check out Haberman Fabrics for Marimekko. (www.habermanfabrics.com) This is a great fabric store open to the public and they sell online.

Regarding Textile Arts in the past. They're very nice, and pass along a professional discount. Sometimes they don't have their act together.

I might have the fabric designers confused, but i think www.cb2.com has some wall hangers by Marimekko. Its worth taking a look

I don't know if this is the case everywhere, but the Crate and Barrel outlet stores around Chicago have last season's fabrics available for big discounts. My wife would know better, but I think it was like $8-9 / yard compared to $30+ online.

You might want to give our shop a try. We are the third Marimekko Store and we carry 100 + fabrics, including upholstery. We pride ourselves on our customer service, have relationships with professional interior designers, and can answer any question that you may have. We can also offer suggestions regarding how to cut costs on creating custom pillows, shams, and artwork. If you call on 800-656-3587 I recommend asking for Cynthia or Scott. We believe in the value of Marimekko's textile history as well as the current work that promotes newer designers. Warm regards, Marni
