Hello AT,
Does anyone know who carries furniture by Mdf Italia in NYC. I have been unsuccessful in getting them to answer my inquiry through their website. Also, has anyone sat on their sofa model "Mark". Any comments on quality and comfort appreciated. I think I already have an idea of customer service....
Thanks, Mary Beth

The only place in nyc that I know of that carries MDF Italia is SEE (Spatial Environmental Elements) on Broadway and 20th.

Of course you could always shop at Europebynet which will be cheaper but you won't be able to try before you buy.
I just realized, I went to their store a few years ago and can't recall seeing it in that location more recently. Their website doesn't give a nyc address so maybe the citysearch entry is outdated now.
I love MDF Italia furniture, but unfortunately, it's out of my price range. When I was started looking for a sofa a couple of years back, I saw some MDF Italia stuff at SEE, which was previously mentioned, and also at Property in Soho. (I'm pretty sure it was Property that had it, but looking at their website now, I don't see any MDF Italia.) Troy, which was recently profiled on AT, also carries it.
I haven't sat on the Mark sofa, but a couple of years ago I did sit on the Edgar, which looks similar and I think was at Property in Soho. As I recall, the seat was very firm and deep, too firm and deep for my liking. As much as I loved the look, I wanted something more comfortable (and affordable).
The Conran Shop in New York carries MDF. They only stock a handful of their pieces but i think they can special order whatever you want.
Love the Mark sofa. A few years back when I lived in a rental, I had a solidly-built $750 knock-off from (hangs head in shame)... Plummers. http://www.plummersfurniture.com/?page=shop/flypage&page_back=shop/category_items&offset=24&product_id=1150&category_id=a10b5d1d7c7745585411b442dc5aa934 Not nearly as beautiful or streamlined as the original... but if you're on a budget, you can't beat the price. Plus, it's deep enough and wide enought to allow two people to lie on it comfortably.
i have sat on it.
There is actually a lounge bar across the street from me in Germany that has a whole bunch of them in white vinyl and my feeling is that it is
A- gorgeous
b- well proportioned, and pretty deep for a modern sofa
c-not comfortable..... it would be amazing in a waiting room or a lounge bar, but I wouldn't want to lay around on it and watch Tv. It is incredibly FIRM.
I have recently been really impressed with some pieces from a company called e15.
Hi you can give me an email if you want. I am the dealer for MDF in SF, and would be more than happy to answer you questions. barbara@limn-resource.com
It is a fantastic line and superior construction. Everything is made to order and dealing with high end Italian manufactures is a little different than what many of us are use to. They have a very different idea of customer service and do not deal directly with the public very well. On the other hand they will go out of their way to make your piece as you like it and are very particular in choosing retailers to carry there product. If you have any questions email me and i will help you.
