Good Questions: Modern Bathroom Vanity?

9-26-modern-vanity.jpgI am getting ready to renovate my bathroom but cannot find a vanity that will work. Because of the size of the bathroom I need a single-sink console with storage underneath. I am looking to stay away from the more classic looks for the bathroom and am trying to find something in a light wood like teak or white oak. I like the look of the bath stuff from West Elm but they don't make a vanity. Any suggestions on where to find something similar?

Duravit makes some of the best vanities with the qualities you are looking for. Possible downside--very expensive and possibly long lead time.

There are many vanities on ebay which are cheaper constructed imports (usually Chinese) which have very contemporary designs.

If you are an ambitious diy'er you could peruse the archives of this site and pull up projects involving converting a nightstand or dresser into a vanity as well as an Ikea hack.

I would not rule out Home Depot or Expo without at least visiting them in your area to see if they stock any units that would work for you (every store seems to be a little different).

Good luck!

I just installed Duravit (2nd floor series) vanities in our new bathroom and we love them. Yes, the lead times are long and they are a tad on the expensive side.

The upside is that you can customize the size (length) of the vanities and add cabinets.

We picked the rosewood color wood. Nice and warm

The installation of the product is tricky but they look lovely.

Check out La Cava. They are an Italian plumbing company with a warehouse in the US. There was a time when they only sold to the trade, but they've since opened themselves up to direct sales to the public over the Internet. Their stuff is GORGEOUS and well made.

I got a really cute Euro-styled sink & cabinet with mirror at Lowe's for less than $200 -- came as a set. Only available in white, but that's always a good color to play off.

I am doing one right now with a traby piece from Ikea and a square vessel sink. It isn't in yet, or I'd share photos.
