Good Questions: Mr. Replacement Faucet?

hansgrohe_faucets.jpgHello AT,

I need some faucet help fast! I am in the final stretch of a never-ending remodel of a 2 BR apt. in Hoboken and just ran into a problem I can't seem to solve quickly enough.

I purchased (and now returned) a Hansgrohe kitchen faucet (on left in attached photo, Metro HighArc Single-Hole with 2 Spray Pull-Out 06697000) and just found out it will be too tall for my kitchen space b/c the height between my cabinets and countertops is getting tight...

I found a great replacement (on right in photo, < ahref"http://www.hansgrohe-usa.com/products/singleprod.php?prod_num=06462">Interaktiv S Single-Hole Kitchen Faucet without Base Plate 06462000) but it just came out and won't be in the US until mid-July. My project should be wrapping up by 6/24 so I need a faucet fast to get mounted in the countertop before the project is over.

Can I get some recomendations for a single hole faucet with mixer and pull-out spray that is around 12" tall or less? It should be modern, simple, and available in chrome.

Thanks! AO

Dear AO, While we don't have a specific answer for you, we would recommend waiting for the Interaktiv to come out and put in a cheap temporary faucet for the month or so. This is something you are going to use EVERYDAY and the Interaktiv is mighty purty.

We'd wait for Mr. GoodFaucet and date a replacement for the time being.

Anyone else??

By the time you order something special, you won't be getting it until about mid-July anyway, so I agree that it makes sense to put in a placeholder and swap it out when you can get what you want. I have been very, very pleased with Dornbracht fixtures, which cost way too much for many tastes, I realize. However, do look at the Maro line just for ideas, and because it's so pretty. Also go to this site to look at some nice and unusual designs (sorry, I don't know how to do links here):

There is a Kohler Avatar tap on that page that is 11 and 5/8" tall and is very similar to your selected replacement (it has a pullout spray). It's probably available much more quickly than the Interactiv, and Kohler is usually very reasonably priced.

BTW, if you hired someone to design your kitchen remodel and they didn't catch this fitting problem, you should give them a stern lecture! If it was you who missed it...live and learn.

Good luck!

Ebay, baby! THere is a company, I think it's called bestbath, that sells sweet faucets. If you search "Industry Faucet" you will bring up one of their faucets; then go to their store. I just bought an awesome faucet for $100.

Ah, I thought ours was tight. We were about to order a kitchen faucet when we reailzed it was a couple inches too tall to fit under our counter. We have 16 in.

We have made heavy use of Home Portfolio's website when researching hardware and such for our renovation. Here is their kitchen faucet list. Just use the site for research, then shop around for the best price.

Hey Avery...how is the waterflow on the KWC? I had heard mixed reviews on that, and would like to hear from a real user. It looks GREAT though.
