Hello AT,
Can anyone recommend a paste wax to use on the aluminum parts of an Eames lounger? The hang tag that came with the chair recommends cleaning the metal parts every so often with paste wax, but I am concerned that I'll buy the wrong kind and ruin the finish.
Thanks, Arin

Dear Arin,
We don't hardly ever use paste wax, but if we needed some we'd probably reach for Minwax or Butchers because we know the name. Since paste wax is a chemical creation anyway, we don't expect to find a better solution in an *organic* or *natural* direction. We think it's a toss up. Does anyone have more of an idea about this type of thing?
Simichrome is the choice of professionals. It works great is easy to use, and won't ruin the finish.
I've got a similar question - but how to care for the wood of the Eames chairs. I have an Eames Plywood Lounge chair and am wondering what sort of care I should give it... should I periodically wax it? And if so, what brand of wax is recommended?
Thanks
i just inherited an eames lounge chair and i'm wondering what kind of polish can be used on it to re-color the black color where it has worn off or cracked. also, is there a place that anyone recommends in manhattan or brooklyn that can replace one of the little leather buttons on the ottoman?
butcher's wax. it's clear and durable
I have two Eames chiars which I purchased in Europe 35 years ago. The leather buttons have come off of both the seats and ottomans (8 in total). I can replace them myself but need a source. Herman Miller sells them for $30 apiece - a blatant ripoff. Does anyone know where I might buy them at a reasonable price?
