Hello AT,
Does anyone have the Peyton sleeper loveseat from Pier 1? I need some reviews of it since I can't seem to locate a Pier 1 store that has it on display (apparently its so popular especially in Manhattan that its on back order until at least Februrary).
Thanks, Ken

someone -- answer this question!! I am looking for a loveseat-scale sleeper and this looks great. please do share reviews!
This looks like a pretty unsubstantial piece. I would prefer one that has a frame in it that keeps the bed off the floor.
Back in college days, I had a similar sofa/sleeper from Ikea. It was ok, not extremely comfortable, but suitable for overnight guests. Definitely wouldn't want to sleep on it every day.
Holy bizarre, we literally just had this loveseat delivered to our place *today* after ordering it on Monday(I'm in New Hampshire -- no inventory problems here!). My wife went to Pier 1 thinking she'd pick out a slightly cheaper piece, and ended up with this one. I didn't even know what it looked like until I got home about an hour ago. So while I clearly don't have extensive experience with the thing, I can tell you a couple of things...
First, it's not as beige as I thought it would be from my wife's description over the phone. It's darker, almost dijon mustardy. I hate beige, and I actually like this.
Second, it's firm, firmer than I expected. I suppose it could soften up over time. This isn't a bad thing, in fact I quite like it. I gave it a brief "curl up and watch TV" test, and it passed with flying colors. Almost makes me wish our living room sofa was as firm.
Now, I of course have yet to try out the sleeper part of the thing. But given that the seating cushion is pretty firm, I would guess that sleeping on it might not be the back-busting horror you'd expect. Maybe I'll try folding it out and lounging on it tonight and report back.
If anyone's got specific questions, go for it.
This site is just amazing. Look at that! Just wishing someone would review something and suddenly they do? That's just wild. I don't need one of these, but I'm loving how this is working out.
Thanks mattS for that prompt and generous reply. I am in the market for a sofabed/futon/ but like anne would prefer the mattress to sit on a frame off the floor. I expect my parents to use it in the future and they will not be comfortable with this version that sits on the floor. I have reviewed the AT archives on this category and while extremely helpful, have not narrowed down a clear winner for me. So the search continues!
This item isn't even on the Pier One website anymore. I am looking for a loveseat sized sleeper for my small (10 x 10) room that does double duty as office/guest room.
This looks like a good solution.
After I submitted my question, I checked with yet another Pier 1 store to see if I can find one. Although the salesperson couldn't locate one for me in the NY/NJ area, she suggested I call the national customer service line listed on the Pier 1 website because they can search inventory of stores outside of this area. I called them and the person I talked to was of no help at all. She told me that this model is discontinued and didn't offer any solutions. I was so disappointed that I pretty much gave up on it. It is really the perfect size for the spot I want to put it in. It's so hard to find a sofa/loveseat this small let alone in the style that I like. My question finally got posted the other day and MattS' comment got me to giving it one last shot. So I called the customer service line again. Its still discontinued. However, the person that I talked to this time is more helpful and gave me one piece of info that I didn't get the other time. She said that they have a shipment scheduled to go to the distribution center with 36 of them! However, it will take some time for them to reach the stores. She told me to check with the stores again every once in awhile. So after work today, I went down to the store and asked if they knew anything about it. They didn't. However, to my surprise, they somehow got one on display! It's the blue one (Sapphire) instead of the beige (Oak) but nevertheless they had one. Good thing blue will also match with the rest of my stuff. Although it is a floor model, it looks brand new. I guess they must have just put it out. So I bought it right away. I didn't have to wait and it's even on sale! I will pick it up on Saturday when I can borrow a van, saving even more money since I don't have to pay shipping! So for those of you looking for this sofa, there is still some hope. Good luck!
Hi,
I went to Pier one today looking for this couch. They didn't have anymore. I owned one of these with a matching chair and ottoman about 8 years ago when they first came out. I gave it to my brother when I moved and now I want another. So to answer you question, yes it is comfortable to sit in and sleep on too. The price is great and it's small which is perfect for small spaces. LLbean has a similar version that is just as small and light weight but it is $600. Pier1's is on sale for $398 right now. That's my two cents, I hope it helps.
The Peyton has been discontinued altogether as December. This was a SPECIAL ORDER item ONLY back when it was introduced in mid-2005. It's a hot item, and hard to find since the entire stock has been liquidated into stores. Scarlett is entirely sold out, but it also comes in oak and sapphire. My guess is that Pier 1 will make a *new* loveseat sleeper like this for the mid summer time, so keep your eyes peeled.
The sleeper is so cute. Yup, it's discontinued- only ones in my area are the oak color (AZ). It is firm, compact, and cute... the best part is SUPER lightweight! I love that. It is more of a darker mustard tan like mentioned. It's great! Avaliable on Craigslist if your in the area.
THis is so wild! I just got BACK on the net to try another approach to locating the Peyton sleeper from Pier 1 in Scarlet. I have been looking at it off and on for a year and just didn't know for sure. When I did-it's gone-discontinued. Need it really bad. can't find anything similar. Was trying to get straight to the mfgr, but no luck. Anybody have any idea about the origination? I did locate a floor model in oak but not my preference.Somebody had to make the thing. Did pier 1 ever hear "back by popular demand"?
I am desparetly in need of the peyton sleeper... Does anyone know where I can get my hands on it?
Deanna,
I'd be interested in any color. Where is the floor model in oak located?
I'm selling this same sleeper loveseat from Pier 1. It's about 10 years old, but has hardly every been used and is in great condition. It's always remained in the spare room. I'm asking $150. Email me if interested.
By the way, you can contact me about my sleeper for sale at: bboron@yahoo.com
I sm looking for the peyton sofa sleeper ,I live
in SC and seems no-one has one in their store.
I would like the oak or red. If anyone has any
information please e-mail me right away.
I ordered a Sapphire Peyton sleeper from my local Pier One back in October. I was told they were on back-order and a new shipment was expected from China in January 2006. I would be contacted when they had arrived at the distribution center. Well, no one ever called me. I went back to the store to find out that the Pier One stores on the East Coast had oversold the Peyton sleeper, and there were not enough to fill all the orders. They were not going to manufacture any more because Pier One has discontinued this particular loveseat sleeper. I was told the company plans to change its focus to more upscale (read that expensive) upholstered furniture and even pull back on the rattan and cane pieces that they are known for. Talk about disappointment. I have been looking for a little sleeper like this forever!

I have been looking for th Peyton Sleeper in Sapphire for three months now. I live in the Chicagoland area, does anyone know where I can find one, or does anyone have one for sale?
IKEA has a new loveseat (just saw it yesterday) that is very similar to the Peyton. I know it comes in navy blue, but I didn't check about alternate colors.
This was an extremely popular item, and unfortunately we (i'm an employee) are not going to be keeping items for very long anymore. We have not been told of any new similar items coming out anytime soon. We actually have very little typical living room furniture. It is almost all wicker stuff, but it is nicer than your basic porch set. Some of it is really nice and more expensive, but there's still lots that's affordable. Also, anyone who shops with pier 1 regular knows about all the sales that go on. For example, right now we have three different sales going on. You've just got to keep an eye on things and watch for what you want to go on sale. I wish we would have something else like the peyton, because I would love to have one, and I loved the lighter frame and lack of metal on the bed. I always seem to dig my shins into those when I sleep on one.
did anyone find any of these sofas? this is EXACTLY what my daughter is looking for and we cannot find anything as substantial and useful. help!!
I just called pier1 in my area, laguna niguel calif. and they told me a shipment of peyton loveseat sleepers are coming out in 45 days w/new fall colors!!! yeah!!! call pier1 to see if this applies to your area. good luck!
I've owned 3 of these sofa's from Pier One. My current one is the Peyton in Oak. I love them. I'm a single mom with 2 boys and we live in a one bedroom loft apt. I give my boys the master bedroom and I use the sleeper sofa, I've slept on them for almost 10 years and I love them.
I'll be the first one buy the new ones that are due to come out in fall.
I went to pier one, laguna niguel to check status on arrivals of the peyton sofas and they had the new ones out already. Only had two colors and called "Bradford", but identicle to the peyton.
Pier 1 has discontinued the peyton sleeper but they have a new one called the bradford and are $699and come in grey or straw.
I bought the Peyton Sleeper in Navy about a year ago, and I am completely disappointed in it. Since the frame is made out of foam, it offers very little support. The base at the front underneath the cushions (when folded up) has completely collapsed, so when you sit on it, you are pitched forward and feel like you're going to slide off. We've resorted to putting extra pillows underneath the cushions when we're sitting on the sofa, but it's still very uncomfortable. I would definitely not recommend this item.
