Hello AT,
Does anyone know an inexpensive carpenter who wouldn't mind doing a
small repair job? This stool is a casualty of my holiday party. It
just needs to have the cracked wood glued and the legs screwed back in - I'd do it myself if it didn't have sentimental value, but alas, it was my grandmother's and I'm afraid I'll make a mess of it...

Hoping to find someone who can fix it without charging a lot (I'm totally broke!) or giving me a hard time for wasting his/her time with such a small job. I live in Brooklyn but I don't mind lugging it elsewhere on the train.
Thanks, Karen
Dear Karen,
We know just the person for you: John Ewbank: Cabinetmaker and Finish Carpenter. He's English, skilled in cabinetry and particularly likes to repair antique furniture from what we understand. Give him a call and let us know how it goes.
Anyone else?
Try Stair Restoration at 518-851-2201 and
their website is www.stairrestoration.com if they cannot help you they will suggest some one else. There is a second company located in New York City but I can't find them. I know these people will help you. Good luck.
Does the stool get all teared up when it smells familiar fragrances, or hears oldies but goodies?
If you're still looking for someone, you could give me a call. I do furniture repair and restoration, as well as custom work. Email is best: peter DOT smith DOT grimes AT gmail
I want to get invited to your next holiday party.
