Hello AT! I am looking for a modern sectional sofa for my condo. I don't want to spend more than $1500 before shipping. I've been considering the Annex Sectional from CB2. I am a little nervous about ordering a sofa without sitting on it, and I don't have a CB2 near me (I live in Tampa). Does anyone have experience with this sofa? Likes? Dislikes? Thanks! Brad

Aaron - I think you mean the Moss Green is on sale - the Mocha Brown is regular price...

I used to work for cb2 and can honestly say the Annex was my favorite sectional offered by them, as well as from a lot of what is on the market. It has a very comfortable seat and the upholstery is fairly low maintenance.
One thing to remember: If you are ordering a large grouping, order them all together as dye lots can change the color slightly from batch to batch. Also, for an extra fee, they can treat it with a Scotch Guard-like fabric protector. Highly worth the investment.
And keep in mind that cb2 regularly introduces new colors for this sectional, which means they are frequently going on sale.
Hope this helps! Enjoy!

Would not recommend ordering a sofa you have never sat on. I ordered one on sale from West Elm and it is the most uncomfortable thing - we can't even really use it. I'm now stuck with it bc it was on sale, so if nothing else make sure you can return it if you don't like it.

The mocha brown is beautiful and rich in color - still comes in just under your budget of $1500 before shipping...

I've sat on it in the store and think it's very comfy.

I just sat in this the other day. I thought it looked nice and was comfortable enough, but the seat was way too shallow for my taste, and I'm only 5-8.

Take a look at the "Bacall Sleeper Sofa" collection from Macy's. It comes in a wide variety of colors, and the 2 piece Queen Sleeper with Floating Chaise is quite versitile. it comes with an extra cushion so you can set it up as just a couch, a sectional with a left or right facing chaise. It is also a sleeper for guests, and, it's $1300.
So far, it has held up very well and looked good in my place...

I've sat on it before and I think it's quite comfy. I'm considering buying it for myself if I move to a condo soon. After looking at the sale price, can anyone explain why buying the two pieces together costs $1198, yet buying the separate love seat and chaise costs $998?

It is a very smart looking sofa. Without sitting on it I can tell from looking it is not a very deep sofa.
That will make it less comfortable for a truly relaxing watch TV for few hours sitting on this sofa. That is how I use my sofa i don't know how you use yours, it will be fine if it's just for when people come over.
Before you order it make sure to measure your elevator and your front door to make sure the larger sectional part will fit!

I looked at this sofa and thought it was too flimsily constructed for me. But you should really just go to the store (Broadway and Grand) and see it for yourself.

wow so cheap for such a big piece of furniture...but still a lot to spend for something you should really try on though

Do you have any friends in NYC? What about Chicago? (there are others on the west coast)
Airfares are coming down--can you afford to take a weekend trip to go to one of the stores?
I have purchased only two pieces of furniture without physically seeing them first. Dining room chairs, which are OK; a sideboard buffet, which is too high. A sofa, especially, feels different to everyone who sits in it. Your height matters, how the seats are upholstered matter in how comfortable you'll feel in it. I just wouldn't plunk down that amount of money before I've plunked myself down in the sofa. (And you've factored in the shipping costs, right?)

I just bought this the other week!
I agree it is not really deep (aside from the chaise there is not enough space for spooning, thats for sure) but it is very comfortable. I had been eyeballing the moss green sectional in store for a while now, finally picked up the floor model at steep discount (you might be able to find a similar deal if you actually head to a retail store... they seem to be getting rid of them.)
For as many behinds as I'm sure have landed on it in store it has held up exceptionally. I would say its new if I didn't know better, so perhaps that speaks to the construction.
The cushions are very comfortable, on the softer side. Not sure how it is new as I'm sure mine are thoroughly broken in. So far they have retained their shape with absolutely no lumpiness but I flip them often.

I am kind of in the same boat, but I have a little higher budget: up to $2,500. Unfortunately, I am at least a couple hours from a Macy's or Crate and Barrel or Room and Board to test drive a sofa. Buying a sofa seems like buying a pair of jeans in that they are sold all over the place but you really have to put in the time to get the ones that are right for you.

i purchased the cb2 annex sectional in slate. it's the most affordable modern sectional you are going to find - that alongside west elm's armless sectional which is almost the exact same thing (except theirs does not come with a chaise, but has an ottoman). it's not very deep nor very high, so if that's something you require in a couch this is not for you. however it is very comfortable and has a sleek design, great for smaller spaces. they sell attachments that go on the bottom so that the pieces don't slide away from each other - make sure to get those as well.

Oh gosh. Don't worry about not being able to sit on it if you know what kind of sofa you like and you have a tight budget. Why would you spend money on a plane ticket to sit on a sofa when you could use that extra money to buy something close to home??
I did extensive research on sofas two months ago when buying a new one for a new apartment, and this was high on my list. It is very low to the ground, but is comfy and I like that it doesn't have arms. While you should get all the pieces together to match, you can always add more pieces when you have more money, or get chairs that will complement. I would go to a "modern" furniture store to look at something similar and see how you feel about something so low to the ground. For me, it was an issue, but it may not be for others.
And if you have a Macy's nearby, check them out as well. Their sales are to die for. I got a 3-piece Corona set for under $2,000.

Yes! This sectional is very comfortable and soft to the touch! I've gone to CB2 a handful of times and sat on this couch.. I actually want one for myself but I don't think it fits in my apt.

Well, if Miami isn't too far for you, there is a place across the street from me called Loft Sofas. (Road trip!) You can find them online. The couches are comfortable, very stylish and have beds built into the chaise lounge. As soon as we pay off the move to Florida, thats where we will be buying our furniture.
