Good Questions: Similar Black and White Bedding?

black-white-bedding.jpg

I have been struggling for months to find a duvet that satisfies my desire for modern, black and white, Asia-inspired design. A duvet is the final piece that I need to tie my bedroom together. I finally came across the exact duvet that I have been picturing in my head, on eBay. I inquired to the seller as to who the designer was, and received a very terse response: "The designer is from China." I would happily purchase the duvet on eBay, but the shipping cost is nearly $100, and I can't stomach paying that much for postage for an item that I have not seen or touched or inspected for quality. Does anyone have any idea where I can find something very similar to this design? My brain hurts with the frustration! My dream duvet is so close, yet so far away...

Anyone have a good suggestion?

Why not get a simple set of White Duvet & shams and embroider some flowers and leaves in black yourself?

I doubt the designer is Chinese as much as this was made in China...

What about:

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Branches-Black-Duvet-Set/3046502/product.html?sec_iid=33964
(not Asian, but similar botancal idea)

or

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Bamboo-3-piece-Black-Duvet-Cover-Set/3442400/product.html

I personally do not have any experience with Overstock.com, but I have friends who have ordered bedding from the site, and were pleased.

This was on AT a while ago. Design your own duvet at InMod. They are reasonably priced, not sure if any of them as 'asian' enough for you but there are some really cool Koi Fish and branches that are sorta asian.

Well, I don't know what your budget is but we purchased the Christian Fischbacher Short Story duvet in black and white which matches your wishes perfectly.

Actually - when you see a shipping charge like that from China (or other foreign countries) many times it's a way for the sellers to avoid eBay fees - since it doesn't actually cost that much to ship things from China, generally.

The right thing to do is report them to eBay for trying to avoid eBay fees.

As a eBay buyer and seller, I would definitely agree with Delairen's comment. Ebay strickly forbids raising the price of shipping to make additional profits; however, they do say that they can add the sellers handling (supplies) can be added to the final shipping cost. $100 for shipping is OUTRAGEOUS!

All that aside, I love the design! Ive been searching the internet for quite awhile and havent been able to find it or even a picture. Do you remember what the style is? And have you found it yet? If I find one, I will come back a re-post. Please let me know =)

Gouga25--
I have yet to find the exact one anywhere among the internets, sadly. There are so many beautiful suggestions in this thread, and I found quite a few that I have considered, but I find myself not wanting to settle on a white with black duvet, when my heart's desire is a black with white (like the righthand picture).
I sell occasionally on ebay, and I find that I usually undercharge for shipping, and I am totally cool with that. I would just feel guilting gauging my prices like this particular seller. When I see $100 shipping, $.1 starting price...I know something is wrong! How sad, though, because I LOVE this duvet.

mschatelaine-

Those are such lovely examples! I had previously considered the one at Artedona; it's wonderful. Thank you for your time and help with this!

Enamorada-

I spotted this at Kohls! I am going to see if it goes down in price after a little while. Not sure how much I want to spend on Kohl's-quality bedding...

bepsf-

I am pretty damn good at quilting (huge patchwork quilts), but my embroidering skills, as well as my applique skills, leave an awful lot to be desired. I often consider trying to make it myself, but my hand-sewing is just awful. Perhaps I can look for a machine-sewn technique to achieve this look.

Rolen the Great--

I just recently tried to design my own on this site, but they did not offer a black background in the design that I chose
:-(

This site is fabulous, though, and wonderful for someone who has a different color scheme.

ivycat--

I found the Black Branches at a local discount store, and agreed with the Overstock comments that it is very pretty, but rough to the touch and a magnet for lint :-(

But thank you so much for the suggestion! I love Overstock.com!
