Good Questions: Similar Round Pedestal Table?

3-6-pedestal-table.jpg

I love, love, love this table. Does anyone know where it’s from? Where I can get something similar? Thanks in advance! Kelly

We're also fond of round pedestal tables! Keep in mind that you could make a custom table with your choice of pedestal (lots of industrial options) and the help of a carpenter or designer.

Anyone have suggestions for Kelly?

I can't remember where I read this (I will find it) but it was purchased at a flea market in Paris. But it is owned by one of the designers of Ocher (see here: http://coolandsublime.wordpress.com/2007/12/16/ochre-interiors/ )

It looks to me like it's a carved pedestal that has been spray painted or silver leafed. Though maybe it's aluminum patio furniture? I'd wager that the table top was purchased seperately or made for it.

I suggest printing out the photo, keeping it your handbag/wallet, and scouring every fleamarket, antique store, whathaveyou that you come across. You'll find something like it eventually. It looks french to me.

And yes, it's lovely. I'm going to save the photo too and start my own hunt!

This photo was in Domino issue for Nov 2007 page 152. The table is in Harriet Maxwell Macdonald's London Apartment (designer).

per article: "She added an ash tabletop on a shapely cast-aluminum base made by a friend."

I've coveted this table ever since I saw it in domino magazine back in 2007. Room and Board had a round table with similar proportions and a carved wood base that was GORGEOUS, but it appears that they no longer have it on their site. Phooey. Every other round table I see is either a Saarinen, which won't work for my style, or it has four legs. The search continues.

Harriet Macdonald's store Ochre makes a similar table, probably inspired by the one she has: http://www.ochre.net/en/display.product.php?furnitureID=furniture2&productID=f19

Does anyone have experience with contracting metalwork? I'm just wondering what the ballpark figure would be on having someone fabricate that aluminum base? The top's easy but it's the base that eludes my somewhat limited skills...

Thanks everyone for your advice. I figured it was probably custom. Its the base that I love - so simple and elegant! I do have a picture of it with me in my wallet and hopefully will be able to locate something in the same vein... because I don't have the $ for anything custom.

dewi, cheap was Your assumption, I didn't say I was looking for cheap... just ballpark figures.
