Good Questions: Smaller Scale, Same Style?

Hello AT,

I was curious if you guys knew of a 2 piece sectional similar to this one in Restoration Hardware, only shorter (around 100-115inches long) and with the option of the chaise on the opposite side?

We love the depth(it's around 40-45inches deep) and the how comfortable it is to sit in...but don't have the space for 129inches long or the cash (!!).

That's a tough one. So many sectionals absolutely blow the our city dimensions away and are clearly not designed with us in mind. However, we found a similar style for you at Mitchell Gold called the Arlene that does have smaller dimensions (seat depth too, but that is unavoidable) and can be configured in either direction.

We don't know the price, but MG has reasonable price points and it should be less than your big roll arm version from RH.

As Maxwell mentions, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, but they also have a "sofa by the inch" program that allows you to custom a length. Not sure how/if the chaise section factors in.

Just also received a Baker Sale catalog that indicates a program I was not aware they had... totally custom sofas, allowing you to pick arm size/style, leg and skirting style, overall size, etc. But Baker, even on sale, is still "investment quality" so price may be an issue.

I'd also check out the new line of smaller scale upholstery at Pottery Barn.

Check Jennifer Convertibles - they are very reasonably priced and have several options for shortening sectionals in their showrooms.

If, for some reason, price is not an issue, I would look at Montauk sofa (there is one in Soho) that will pretty much do whatever you want and the style is similar to what you posted.

Pottery Barn has this exact design - they call it the "PB Basic Chaise Sectional Sofa". The length is 106".

The Todd Oldham for La-Z-Boy line seems to be scaled for smaller spaces, but you may not get the depth you are looking for. Worth looking into.

Also, Room and Board's Ian Sofa series. Put together the loveseat and chaise and you have a total width of 98". Check it out.
