apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Good Questions: Source this Coffee Table?

5-1-coffee-table.jpg

Hi Apartment Therapy, Can anyone tell me where I might find the coffee table pictured in this photo of FLOR's La Fonda del Sol tile rug? I've checked all the big box retailers I can possibly think of (Room&Board, DWR, CB2, Pottery Barn, Crate&Barrel, West Elm, Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams, Williams-Sonoma Home, Restoration Hardware, Viva Terra, Highbrowfurniture, BoConcept) and no one has it. There are some with very similar versions with wood tops, veneered tops, salvaged/reclaimed wood tops, some with and without the continuous "return" legs, but none of them are in that specific rust-type bronze finish. Most are either chrome or stainless steel or natural steel. To me, it looks like a vintage find, and I know that I may be able to find a base and then fit the glass top myself, but I wanted to check w/ the community before taking on that hunt to see if there is, by chance, a retailer that sells it. Thanks for any suggestions! Kellen

We quickly found this similar Brickmaker's Coffee Table from both the Sundance Catalog and Restoration Hardware.

Also, Restoration Hardware has a similar Reclaimed Wood Side Table.

Anyone else?

Pier one had one or a similar one. I think it was called the Zack series. Good luck.

I wouldn't waste alot of time trying to find one from a retailer.

Instead, I'd locate a local welder who would be willing to make one to the exact size you wish using mild steel square tubing which you would leave unlacquered to allow to evolve into the rusted effect you see here.

Once this is accomplished, have your local glass store cut and polish a piece of tempered glass to fit the exact measurements of your base. This piece appears to be frosted glass, so you might want to keep that in mind when ordering.

Ian--

I hope you'll send in some of your work so that the AT folks can post it for us - I'd enjoy seeing it.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I know about the versions that RH, CB2 and R&B - was looking to see if anyone knew of a retailer I hadn't checked out yet. Going to go custom sourced via local welder. Sorry Ian, I'm going over the 3ft x 3ft, but thank you for the offer.
