Good Questions: Square Plate Source?

5-15-squareplate.jpgHello AT,

I recently saw these plates on the Fox show "Bones." They're beautiful, but I cannot find them anywhere.

They're square, white, and they look to be 12x 12". However, they're a lot more gracefully curved than the typical white square plate...

Do you know who makes them? I tried to find information from Fox, but no luck. Here's the screenshot of the plates in the scene.

Thanks! Jessika, who's tired of her boring round plates.

Anyone???

I once had square plates and found them to be really annoying to handwash. The shape is counterintuitive and tedious to handwash. And if you have a small sink, it makes it even harder. Just something to think about!

Bed Bath & Beyond, and Linens & things both sell square plates. Last time I was in a Target, they had some too. Also Pier 1.

We purchased a set of B.Smith square curved dinner plates at BB&B, see the link below. It looks like the ones in the show have a more severe edge and corner, though:

I wish the "square plate fad" would go away. They are so cumbersome and VERY easy to break.

Crate and Barrel/CB2 have some. I've seen some very nice ones at Bed bath and Beyond, that were far less unweildy-looking.

I bought those exact plates, in cream, at C&B about two years ago. I don't use them all that often because I have the exact same problem the guy on the show does, but I have come up with a solution. I use the plates as kind-of mock bowls and eat my pasta with chopticks. Don't laugh, at least I get to use them now. It's hell trying to cut a piece of meat on them :)
