Hello AT,
Does anyone besides Karim Rashid make rugs that use computer vector art patterns? I love them.. but his are sooo prohibitively expensive!
Thanks!!! ! ! ! (I'm an apartmenttherapy.com addict!)

Dear D, We have no idea and apologize for your addiction! Anyone else able to help D out? MGR

hm. i think milliken's new line designed by SOM does. they're commercial carpet tiles, though. feel pretty icky underfoot for residential. can't think of anyone else at the moment...
We used to deal with a signage vendor that could ink-jet print anything onto (a light-colored) anything... I think they also provided a carpet sample one time. That could be a cool DIY route, perhaps. I'll try to dig up the source.
Ooh, please do, patrick--that sounds intriguing.
And congrats on the big win!

I don't know what Karim Rashid charges, but these might be a bit less expensive. I asked them about a 5x8 and iirc they said about $3000. Okay, not a bargain, but perhaps in the ballpark of a normal human who really likes rugs. Anyway, I think their rugs are gorgeous and it would give me a vicarious thrill if you were to get one.
wow, never in my dreams would i think my queston would be mentioned on apartmenttherapy. exciting. i'm such a nerd! hehee.
i have been looking into a DIY route, and have found a mat company that makes very ruglike mats for cheap. i might go ahead and design my own and do it that way. ive gotten the rug bug and have designed around 100 rug patterns already, sort of stream-of-consciously. patrick, i'd love to hear about your printer contact !
