Good Questions: What is the Color Used on AT's Book Cover?

11.2book.jpgHello AT,

I'm looking for the right shade of orange for a bedroom accent wall.

I am intrigued by BM 20180-20 Mandarin Orange (Veuve Cliquot, but fear it may be a bit too much for me.)

I am curious as to what the shade used on the wall on the "Apartment Therapy" book cover is?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Margaret

Dear Margaret,

We like the cover of our book as well, but we don't know exactly what color paint it would translate to. If you want a bright orange, the Mandarin is really great and good in small doses. If you want to tone it down we recently used Nacho Cheese in our kitchen and really like it. It's orange but mellow.

We would recommend getting your hands on both of these chips as well as looking at the colors just down the color strip from Mandarin Orange. The color chips show ranges and you can try one that is less saturated.

We would also recommend buying a tester or a quart and testing a patch on your wall before committing.

Anyone else??

I did a whole room in Sherwin Williams jalapeno. It will be the nursery, eventually. It's a bit darker and more laid-back than the color on the front of the AT book.

I once did a bathroom in what looks just like that, and it was Behr's "Tangerine Dream."

The accent wall in my dining room in Benjamin Moore's Seville Orange. I love it. It is a true orange, but with a soft quality, less harsh than the cover of the book.

loew's store brand has an orange like that we used in our bedroom (with purple shag carpet of course) crayola makes a perfect orange, we used originally, but it's hard to find.

Benjamin Moore "Jack O'Lantern" (#2156-30 ) is subdued, with a nice brown undertone.

I painted my bedroom in Berhr's Tangerine Dream. It works well in low-lighting (feels warm and cozy, but might be too overwhelming with strong lighting).
