Hello AT,
I just moved, and I've got a chance (thank you, freecycle!) to get an Ikea sofabed for free. The donor graciously sent along photos (one of the full couch, and one full-disclosuring the wear). The faded red isn't really my style, but the price is hard to pass up...

I'd love to be able to get this for free and then spend what I'd planned to spend on a new Ikea couch on a gorgeous slipcover. Problem is, the owner doesn't know what model this is, and I don't know, either. I checked it against the Ikea and Bemz websites, and can't find a thing. Help?
Thanks! Jaime

I don't know which couch that is, but isn't freecycle great? An AT reader mentioned it a couple of weeks ago and I checked it out. Since then I freecycled a working cell phone to a needed user, and I received some nice ikea shelves that I will turn into wall staircase for my cats! more curing to be done...

I have that couch in green!
The good news is, it's just about the most comfortable couch in the whole world.
The bad news is, it's been discontinued for a long time. I can't recall the model name, but I've never seen slipcovers for it.

That looks like a pretty old model to me (is it one of those frameless all-foam sofas they used to sell?), and not something IKEA would still have slipcovers in stock for.

Can't help you with the model name either, but if it is one of IKEA's all-foam couches, there are no slipcovers available via IKEA or Bemz.

Looks a lot like mine, and I also looked, unsuccessfully, for a slipcover. I think it is long discontinued.

it's the AIVAK. it definately was around in '97, up until 2000.

eveapple,
freecycle is a group on yahoo that encourages re-using stuff instead of just throwing it away. within ur community, u can ask for stuff u need or offer stuff u don't need, and it's all free.
