Hello AT, I love this table. I've been looking for a modern, wood, round, pedestal, extension table for a long time, and I finally found this on Craig's List, but I was too late to snag it. Now I'm trying to find another one (hope springs eternal)...any ideas what it might be?
Thanks!
Kim

HI this looks a lot like Moser's Georgetown Single Pedastal table, though it's obvious it's not the same one (Moser's legs have a distinct taper). Maybe a good alternative!? http://www.thomasmoser.com/product.detail.php?category_id=5&family_id=&product_id=167
Hi, I know this table. It looks like a table that was designed by Mel Smilow, my father. He owned and operated 7 of his own stores in this area called Smilow-Thielle later Contemporary Classics. All of the furniture was designed by him and unfortunately no longer available as the stores closed in the mid 70's. This piece was designed in the later 1960's. It was manufactured in a small factory in Pennsylvania.
That's so cool Judy! Congrats to your father on a great design.
Now I'm on the hunt...there must be a couple of these floating around.
Hello,
I'm looking for information on 2 pieces of furn. designed by Mel Smilow and manuf. by Smilow-Thielle. I'm looking for orig. fabric or any leads that can help me and my client restore his pieces to thier orig. beauty. Is there anyway that Judy Smilow can contact me?
I have several Smilow Thielle pieces--including the dining room table. The couch and chairs have the original fabric in perfect condition, except for some stains which could probably be removed. I am interested in selling as soon as i determine the correct price. KH
Hi Kate, I just looked up my old post, not expecting any new info, and there you are! I would definitely be interested if you decide to sell. Where are you? I'm in Brooklyn. I'm scared to put up my email address for fear of spam, but I'll keep checking back to see what you've decided.
Thanks.
Hoping that Judy will help me out with pricing her father's beautiful furniture. Kate H.
Believe me my name is Judy also. My husband and I have been married 40 years. We own this table and four chairs. We also have stone lamps with the original shades that were bought in Smilow-Thielle's in Manhattan.
I, too, am searching for that Smilow Thielle pedestal extension table so perfect for a small space. If there is another one out there, I would love to hear about it. Thank! Genevieve
I have the walnut butcher block table by Smilow Thielle in Oro Valley, AZ. It is northwest suburb of Tucson, AZ. I have 2 walnut arm chairs and 6 dining chairs that match although they were made in Denmark. I also have a beige cushion sofa that has a back of walnut spokes. It has a bit of a tilt to the seat. Another red covered sofa with a solid walnut back was sold last Friday. I have a weakness for fine wood and great design. Have not seen anything that came close in design in over 40 years. Mel Smilow is the finest designer of fine furniture in all of America's history!
I have Smilow furniture purchased in early 1960s a the Lexington Avenue, NYC store Smilow Thielle. Dressers, night tables, serving tables and wonderful webbed dining chairs still serve my wife and family in 2008. Smilow was a great designer and the store was well managed by pleasant people. Any tips where I can acquire two or more dining chairs? I will include a photo if there is a positive response to this.
thank you

I have a Smilow-Thielle dining room set that I am looking to sell, I also have a living room set. these were all from my parents home, I also found all the original receipts (1964) and price list from the White Plains store. I also have the original sales brochures of the items offered for sale. Each piece had its own card with the picture on the front and the description on the back. There are 31 cards and 3 color postcards of , a Bedroom, Living room and a Dining room display. I am having a hard time finding anyone in that knows the furniture or what it is worth. All the furniture I have is in the cards so I know it is authentic, Smilow did not mark or label the pieces which may be part of the problem in finding information. Sorry but I don't have a card for the table that started this conversation, If anyone is interested or knows someone who deals in Smilow furniture please let me know or post. I can scan the cards if anyone would like to get a copy for the pieces that you own. I would really like to sell the furniture as a set to some one who appreciates and enjoys it.
