Good Questions: Where Can I Find A Mattress for This Daybed?

6.9bed.jpgHello AT,

Where can I get a tufted mattress made for this daybed, that won't cost more than I paid for the bed?

Thanksd! Gustavius

You can get some foam from http://www.economyfoamandfutons.com/ and go to http://www.psyarns.com/ and pick a fabric to make it yourself, then it would be the perfect size, thickness and color!

How much did you pay for the bed?

something similar to this. Look around for outdoor furniture that is going to sale and buy a cushion. Grandin Road has something similar on sale. If you want to upgrade the fabric, you can always buy a luxurious material that suits your situation and have the local alteration place make one sleeve for the cushion for you.

I would never use a foam mattress unless it's in a space that's air-conditioned 24/7 throughout the warmer months. It traps the heat and will release it only onto your body when you lie down. Miserable.

For all traditional spring-type mattresses, custom and standard size, I'd recommend Sleepcare in Freeport, Long Island. Really cheap and really 5* hotel-quality. They're mostly a factory, so they're only open on weekdays. They give great phone, though, and can arrange (sort of pricey) delivery. Or they'll tie the mattress to the roof of your car for free.

And if you don't have a car, you can play hookey from work and go to Jones Beach after your visit to their showroom -- they're a few blocks from the Freeport LIRR station, which is where you get the bus that goes to Jones Beach.

I purchased the daybed for $950 from the ABC outlet. The measurments are 38"w X 66" long. I liked it alot, but I didn't check to make sure that the mattress would be a standard size. Thank you for your comments I will look into them.

Any leads on an upholsterer? I think it would look great with a dark brown or wine velvet cushion.
