Good Questions: Where Can I Find a Similar Multi-Tiered Light?

10.12lamp.jpgHello AT,

This past weekend we stayed at the Vanderbilt hotel in Newport, RI. I fell in love with this hanging fixture in their lobby. Does anyone know where I can find a similar, multi-tiered light, somewhat reasonable in price. By the way the Vanderbilt is an amazing, elegantly modern hotel with loft like "apartments/rooms". To my knowledge, it is the only modern accommodations among the many Victorian and Colonial historic inns and B & Bs.

Thanks! Kricket

Dear Kricket,

Lovely lamp and most likely custom for the hotel. To find something *similar* you can look at the links below, but to find exactly THAT, we think that you could get it made for not too much if you took this pic right to Broome Lampshades OR Just Shades. Also, these folks used to be very good: Tran-Lux Custom Lamp Shades.

OK, this one is not exactly reasonable, but looks very much like the one you saw at the Vanderbilt. Ylighting are a delight to deal with, and might carry other less expensive alternatives.

I think you can't do better than School House Electric Co.

You can choose the fixture and the shade and have them painted or not, here's one that looks quite like the one you're looking for:

I too was inspired by a beautiful modern hotel decked out in aqua and deep brown tones, the CondesaDF in Mexico City. I just put up a School House light in these colors in my soon to be new kitchen, it was pretty cheap and looks great.
