What's the rest of your place like?

I'm loving the new circle cut-out chairs in Beet from West Elm these days if you want to keep it all in the West Elm family.

what style/colors are you going for here? i'd keep stools as an option given the small scale of the table.

I have a 60" slate gray microsuede sofa from funky sofa http://funkysofa.com/rio-loveseat.html

I have two small book shelves in front of the coffee table that will be replaced when I find a chest of sorts (glass, metal, white) that is not too deep and not too tall and about 30" wide. Or they will be painted white.

I have a small desk that will likely be painted white (any tips on painting formica?

2 metro racks one next to the desk, one across from the parsons.

svetta, I am trying to keep it white, silver or chrome (aluminum too, any light metal for that matter), and glass.

Then, if in the budget, look at Emeco... the Hudson Chair is one of my favorites of all time, but their classic Navy chair would also work, and mix eras nicely.

And although frequently criticized for not *looking * comfortable, I'd also consider the Bertoia wire chairs, in either chrome or white plastic-coated.

The fact that I have one navy chair and it is too low was cut form my original post. I forgot to mention that they need to tuck under.

The stools may be a good idea if they end being the right height.

If you're looking for armless, I'd suggest either the cb2 bandit chair which is a nice tweak on the emeco side chair, or a victoria ghost chair, which is the armless version.

I would try either Crate&Barrel (they have one or two very nice leather parsons chairs that they pair with desks) or Ikea, which has come out with a variety of new chairs in their 2008 catalogue. Good luck!

I think the 20-06 chair from Emeco might also be nice, or this one at dwr might provide a suitable minimalist white-on-white look:

what is your budget?

The Bertoia would look great. also the Flat Brno or the Cesca.

I know someone is going to suggest Bellini or a knock off of it. However, I'm quirky. That is the perfect table I'm going to buy someday to put with a mis-matched collection of "only chair left" from sets of really cool 50's kitchen chairs in vinyl with a myriad of colors.

I have odd fantasies. But they make me smile.

My budget is whatever it takes to find the right chairs. I would prefer to spend as little as possible, but chairs I can take with me where ever I go.

I like the bertoia, the wife does not. The Flat Brno is a bit deep for the space.

The 20-06 is sleek, not sure it will mix with the navy chair, but maybe I should replace it all together. I do like the gas chair.

I don't like the furniture at crate & barrel, and try to avoid ikea for major use items like chairs, tables, etc.

The bandit chair looks great I can't wait until the CB2 store opens next month!

I would definitely not do the chairs in all white too, it will be too matchy-matchy for the space. I vote for the Ghost chair, but the Zebra chair at CB2 (black and white stripes) would also be very cute.

The Navy chair was "too low"? Can you explain? Do you mean seat height?

And, do you mean tuck *entirely* under?

are these desks deep enough to seat 4 ? I've been coveting them for that use but thought they weren't deep enough...but didn't see them in person.

The seat height of the Navy chair is a tad low at 18" for my wife. We thought about making a seat pad in white like the emeco black one, or buying screw in castors for the legs just to raise it a bit.

I mean tuck under up the the chair back so that it is flush. We have a very small space and when not in use our 2 chairs should be as close as possible.

The desk could sit four, or even 6 depending on how big a place setting you make. With a napkin, pincipal plate and wine glass, four are comfortably close. The table is 24" wide so you can decide what works for you.

But aren't most dining chairs going to have roughly that same seat height?

That is the issue. So right now there are none at the table.
