Hello AT,
I am looking for 4-6 Jury style chairs for my kitchen table. Is there anywhere in nyc that has them in a showroom? If not, then does anyone have first hand knowledge of where to buy them online. I am nervous of the institutional finish that might be applied for high traffic use. Preferably I am not looking to spend a fortune either.
thanks so much, Ray

Those are also called "Bank of England" chairs, if it helps your search any...
Pottery Barn had some, too, possibly even on sale right now.
You find a couple online from Century Modern in Dallas. The URL is www.centurymodern.com
I have 6 vintage ones, in very good condition, that I was planning on selling. You can e-mail me directly, erikasommer@gmail.com
They're also called bent-wood chairs and old ones are costly. I have one which was the chair of my mom's principal where she taught in the 80's and he knew she loved it. They can run over $250 each.
There's an antiques shop that has loads of these chairs, faithfully refinished and in excellent cond., on Atlantic Avenue. I bought ours from them. Can't recall the name just now, but it's on the south side of the street a couple of blocks east of Hoyt.
I could have sworn I had seen some in the Ballard Design catalog a while back. I think they and/or Pottery Barn have them in black and in white, and possibly other finishes.
Here are some on Craigslist in LA. Don't know what shipping would be?

I believe some of the school/library supply places have these...maybe Demco?
the product that pottery barn carries is on casters. It is nice and it is a great price, but I am looking for chairs with legs. thanks Curtis
They are constructed so that jurors don't fall asleep. That's how uncomfortable they are. Have you actually sat in one for any length of time?
The closest match that I'm aware of is the "Americana Arm Chair" at schooloutfitters.com.
