Hello AT,
I'd like to know where I could find a big arco lamp like this one from from Tim's apt.
Thanks! Amy

If you type 'arco lamp' into a google search you will find that there are plenty of options - it's not hard to find.
I'd even bet there are options on Ebay and even Craigs List in certain cities.

Alex, I don't know about DC, but there are a ton of knock-offs here in NYC. You could probably find one via an online store as well. If you want a "real" one, DWR carries it and has showrooms in DC.

Definately checl craigslist. A guy in the Portland (OR) area has been trying to sell one of those for weeks now. Personally i think the price is kinda high but I'm not in the market for one of those so I'm not a good judge of price. Anyway :

White on White in Manhattan sells a lamp very similar to this one. Their prices are very reasonable.

Check http://allurefurniture.com/lamp11.html for an "Arco-style" lamp, if you don't mind a knockoff. Generally adding the "-style" suffix to a piece you're seeking will bring up lots of copycats.

I bought the White on White "Arco lamp" for $400. Very very heavy, 100lbs of a huge marble base. They also have a $250 one, with a smaller more modular base.

I really like EQ3. I feel the quality for the price is great.

I have this lamp too, and bought mine at Scandinavia Design in California (it's the knockoff, but it still looks great and the base is heavy). I think it was around $250 or under new.

first of all congratulations and all that. and please keep us posted on all the details. if there is but one place that wants to know all about furnishing an apartment....

I believe that this is a regular sized Arco-style lamp...it just looks like a "huge" head since it's in the foreground.
I've never seen an Arco style lamp in a larger scale than the original.
Anyone want to take a crack at finding a "huge" version?

You can purchase the CAST floor lamp at EQ3 for $179 even though it has a price tag of $299 in store. Just mention that you saw the price in their catalog. Apparently, it was a misprint....and they will gladly give you the $179 price.

Sorry to be off topic but ...did Target discontinue the Michael Grave's lamp sitting on the desk?
view miaedu's profile
I think meltendo is right -- it's the perspective of the photo that's making the lamp look bigger. I would hazard a guess that it's actually a bit smaller than the trad arco lamp.

They sell that lamp at Design Within Reach.

i would say that it's just another Arco lamp knock-off, but probably a vintage one.
these pop up on ebay all the time. i think this one is pretty close to the one pictured.

You can find this at Paradigm Gallery. It's $495 shipped to your door and in white or black.

stereophonik, you're right about it being an old knock-off. It is not as big as the real Castiglioni lamp, and the base and shade are differently shaped. It had a sticker that said "made in Italy" but other than that there are no clues as to its provenance.
miaedu, you're correct that target doesn't sell the lamp anymore, which is a pity, because it is a fantastic design. I picked mine up at a yard sale for $1.

Surprise-surprise! Ikea has a "rip-off". Talking about a big version.
