Good Questions: Where Could I Buy This Lamp For Less?

9.17lamp.jpgHello AT,

I found this great pendant lamp at the ABC store in NYC, but it is $450. I am pretty sure i can find it for less on-line. Would any of you happen to know who makes it, or who makes something similar? It is a glass ball (comes in a darkish green translucent color) it has a hole at the bottom (to change the bulbs) and the wiring is black. Very simple. Also, it is not that big, maybe 10 inches in diameter.

Thanks! Fernando

There is a store on the Bowery (I know, I know there are a lot of lighting stores on the Bowery!) that makes these. I wandered in to admire them once and don't remember the exact price, but hey are not anywhere near $450 - and you can customize the globe color and size.

As far as I remember, the store was on the Southeast corner of Bowery and ... Rivington? Spring? Ach, I can't remember, but it wad the Southeast corner. Guy who ran it was a tad brusque, but made could make every fixture in the shop to order, if that helps.

I've found Lighting by Gregory to be a bit overpriced. But within a few blocks, there are at least five other lighting stores selling similar-to-exact-same fixtures. It's definitely worth a trip to the Bowery. Plan on spending a couple of hours poking around in the stores if you're a thorough shopper.
