Good Questions: Where Do I Find Good Mosaic Tile?

2004_7_question mark.jpgI am designing a small mosaic for a friend. They want it to look like one of the original NY subway mosaics. I've looked around at tile stores but can't find those exact shades of green, yellow, and blue. Any ideas on where to find similar tiles? Thanks, Raul

2004_9_30_mosaic.jpgDear Raul, why not go to the source?
1. MTA Arts for Transit office - which commissions the work
2. Grace Baley - who teaches mosaic making at The Transit Museum
3. or look up one of the artists by name, which are usually listed in each station. Anyone else? MGR

this p;ace is over-the-top expensive, but incredibly beautiful stuff:
www.bisazza.com.
43 Greene Street, New York; 212-463-0624
if not to purchase, the showroom is still worth the visit...

I was looking at Mosiacartsupplies.com. Their tile started at about $3 a sq ft

www.bisazza.com. is another good one, but it's expensive
