Hi Apartment Therapy Team,
I recently cut out this picture from a foldout mailed to me by Dwell Magazine (they wanted me to subscribe). I have no idea who makes this sofa or where to get it, but it is the sofa I've been wanting ever since I got rid of the college one.
Please help me identify the maker/name/brand.
Thanks. I love your website. Carol.

Gee, I think the only info that is missing is the model's name, home address and social security number! Pretty thorough - and you know you have a problem when you can rattle off all those details without any research ;-0.
AT is based in Soho, right?
Is that Michael Showalter from Stella (as well as The State and "Wet, Hot, American Summer")?
Gosh Maxwell, you're good!
Thank you very much. At first, I was thinking Noho but my friend convinced me it was a studio photo with NY back drop... She said the guy looks French (go figure).
But those shoes, they gave him in. I knew it was somewhere in the city :-)

I am pretty sure that's Tom Beller, who they got to judge sleeper sofas for an early Dwell issue (his book The Sleep-Over Artist had just come out).
I have a very similar one I bought about a year ago from Urban Outfitters. Also...I'm willing to sell it if you're interested (getting ready to start law school and need a big comfy chair to study in instead!)

The nomad fails in function where it excels in form. I own it and wish I had been more patient in my search for the perfect combo of BOTH form AND function.
Definitely a Nomade.
We've owned one for a few years, upholstered in ultrasuede, and it's served us well in a combination TV Room / Guest Room.
You need to use pillows for lumbar support, or it doesn't make for a comfortable couch. It does make into a comfy bed, though. Wouldn't want to switch back and forth every day (to do so involves flipping the cushion over), but when it's just for guests, it's actually pretty easy.
If all else fails, you can do what I did. I bought a cheap futon frame and painted it. And then I got a so-so matress for it and I went out and bought a printed flat sheet (full size) for about $32. It's really nice. It has a cherry blossom and branch print hand painted. Anyway, I just wrapped the flat sheet around the mattress and let the the rest drape over the back of the futon. It looks nice and fresh and I can take the flat sheet off and clean it any time. I always get complements. And when people stay over I can move the nice flat sheet and put something else on. Multi-functional and really beautiful. And I think it looks a lot like that couch that you like. Very simple with clean cut lines. Anyway, good luck!
