Hello AT,
I saw this bed on the site for a new development called 'The Caledonia' and really like it. Can you or anyone tell me who makes this, and where I could find more info on it?
Thanks. Reshma

try Roche Bobois. It may be one of theirs.
Designer Clodagh did the interiros of the Caledonia.
My guess is custom, or one of her pieces.
assuming its actually there and not a studio shot.......if you go to the model apartment, they will probably know who decorated it and can give you the contact. you may have to ask a few people but you will likely get the answer. i tracked down a desk in an model apartment that way. sometimes they sell the furniture at a discount once the apartments are sold/rented.
Someone's going to get mad at me for saying this, but to ME, it looks like a mattress flung on a platform with wood veneer. Platform carried over to the wall.
Maybe some 4x4s, a little plywood, some stain for the exposed plywood, and wood veneer (er...even wood grain contact paper).
Therefore, check out Jill's stage construction and try it at home!
Uh, by the way, I was like this when I cooked a lot too. I couldn't enjoy a meal out, because I would analyze the food, and then duplicate it at home, and be somewhat annoyed that the restaurant was charging so much when I could make it for so little.
I can't afford a whole lot, so I do the same thing looking at some furnishings. Figure out how it could be done for a lot less.
I'd do the IKEA Malm:

With the matching tables that attach to the bedframe:

Could use wood parquet, wood flooring strips, on both the wall and floor platforms, matching up to the color of choice in the Malm bed.
Are we sure that whole thing IS a bed? That they didn't build a platform and plop a mattress down on it?
I'm just tickled that the image here shows a bed with a very au courant array of bedding (six pillows! three to four quilt/sheet/blanket layers!) actually looking like it's been slept in, instead of as a pristine expanse of linen. I keep it to one duvet total and two pillows per person because of my impatience with making beds.
As P2 mentioned, here's Clodagh's site:
http://www.clodagh.com/
Bed shown on that site in the slideshow at the top. And shows up here:

Emily, my bed looks like that. Well, not the bedroom or the bedding or the bed, but rumpled stuff and pillows all over, and there's even a book on the bed right now. I was just reading.
Therefore, my bed is no longer "unmade"...it's DESIGNED.
Whew! Finally a style I can adhere to.
HEY! First Safari said it couldn't load AT after trying for 60 seconds. Then AT said I entered the wrong code. Both times it went through? It might have gone through a third time even, we'll see if this posts.
That's no bed, that's a schooner! Who has room for something like that?
Thanks guys - I love the bed - am almost afraid to find out how much it costs. So here's another question - how does one go about finding out prices for items that are online (I'm thinking this bed, or stuff at Armani Casa) but have no prices attached? What does it cost to get an good interior designer in NYC anyway?
And yes, it's huge - my husband is 6'4 and his feet are always cold in our queen sized bed. We've decided that some way or another, we are fitting in a california king the next apartment we move to!
There was a contact email for the above designer at the site I posted.
The size of the platform means nothing, because you won't be sleeping on the platform itself. You'll be sleeping on whatever mattress is tossed on the platform.
I guarantee that you could have the platform made for less.
I really like this bed, but could not live with it. I'm such a clumsy clutz that if I had this bed my toes would be in a permanent state of black & blue.
I agree, maile. The thought of maneuvering my way around this bed in the dark makes my toenails curl.
