Good Questions: Who's Sat in the Enzo or Milan Chair?

6-5-leather-chair.jpg

Hello AT,

Has anyone tried the Milan dining chair or the Enzo dining chair from Room & Board? I need to set up a work area in the living room, and I want a chair that will be comfortable for use at a desk (without looking like a desk chair)...

We have some other furniture from Room & Board (a couch and dining table), but since I live in Boston, I can't try out their dining chairs.

Any other chair ideas are welcome. I'm 5'3", so the seat height can't be too high. (My father will build the desk, so I'll choose the desk height to match the chair.)

Thanks, Ruth

Dear Ruth,

We haven't sat in either, but we like Room and Board a lot and their stuff is generally very comfortable. This design is a copy of the original Bellini Cab Chair in which a steel frame is surrounded by leather = very comfortable.

Anyone had an actual sit?

Not sure how comfortable it would be for all day (work) use, but it's comfy as a dining chair.

Btw - should be "who's" not "whose"

I have seen these chairs in a restaurant I had gone to periodically and after a couple of years, the leather seam running along the outside had cracked badly.

Just so you know you may be in for a bit of leather moisturizing to keep it looking good.

We've had a set of six of the Enzo chairs for our dining table for about four months, and its also the chair where we sit when we're on our laptop. The chairs are very comfortable indeed, we really enjoy them - not too hard nor too soft. She's 5'4", and has no issues with the chair height.

My wife made a comment that it may get abit hot/sticky on the chair when the really hot weather rolls around, so that may be something of which to be mindful.

We have 6 of the Enzo's as well. I'm 5'-3" and find the height just right. The chairs are sturdy, heavy, and ok to sit in for long periods. After more than a year the leather is still ok, we just wipe down occasionally with leather cleaner.

They've got a distinct leathery smell too, which is the only thing I don't like about them. But I guess that goes with the material.

I am using one of my dining room chairs (Room and Board version) as an office chair. It is truly NOT the right chair for productive work.

I would reccomend somehting that has more give, rotation, lumbar support and an overall more endearing nature for long periods of desk work.

I beg you to NOT buy it for your desk.

In other words, an office chair?

Thanks for all your input, everyone! I agree that I should eventually switch to a real desk chair.
