Identify Upholstery Used on Knoll Chairs?
Good Questions

7-16-knoll-upholstery.jpg

Q - I just purchased four second hand Knoll Executive Chairs that desperately need recovering. I have fallen in love with the particular fabric in this Knoll media photo; however, I can't seem to find out who manufactures it. I contacted Knoll, and it is not their fabric, and they were not able to find out which fabric was used for the photo shoot. Anyone recognize it? Thank you for your help. Sara

It looks like a fabric that I have but it's hard to say for sure because the photo is not very clear. What do the motifs look like? Are they starburst shapes?

I'm pretty sure the fabric is Gaia Endive. I worked in the Knoll Textile division at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago 1999-2001.

It's no longer available, but you might contact the showroom closest to you to see if the factory might have some stored away.

Good luck!

ps-in the future, if you can take a closer picture of a fabric or element, that will make identification easier.

I just read the last line of the paragraph submitted by Sara.

Sorry to give advice that was unwarranted.

Since this Knoll fabric is discontinued, I suggest looking at Unika Vaev fabrics:

I used some for reupholstering my Knoll Executive Armchairs and they turned out beautifully.

Arc-Com Lily Pond is a close match, although i don't see that yellow color in their colorways. The mustard is a really nice option. Good luck!

I have had the same picture on my refrigerator for years. When my husband saw this post, he said "Hey! It's your favorite room!"
