I've always liked the gypsy chandelier from Dutch by Design. That could be an affordable alternative.

home depot in canada has something that has a similar look. unfortunately it is lucite, not glass and i could not find it on the US site. it come in black, red and white, but not the smoky colour of the one from DWR. at $299 CND it is a much more affordable alternative. good luck.

i'm not sure where you are located but on bowery street in new york city there is a whole lighting district. you can surely find something similiar (i did) for about a third of DWR or less and bargaining is acceptable.

I have the gypsy chandelier from Dutch by Design. I would NOT recommend getting it, because it is wired and bulb-fitted for the EU and because acrylic scratches really easily and frequently gets damaged in shipping. It cost me $60 to have it rewired and resocketed, and even then, some of the beads fell off and the sockets stick out a bit too far. Then it took 3 hours to install it because the wires were all the wrong colors, so we had to look them up online, and the size was smaller than the hole in the ceiling left by most North American chandeliers. I do like the way it looks now, but it was a terrific pain-in-the-tuchus to deal with.

I'm always amazed at the way people want one thing but never want to pay for it.

Nothing wrong with being inspired by a look and buying something reminiscent of that look at a price one can afford.

Sometimes you just really like something you can't afford, and hope that there's a mass-produced option that is similar enough to fit your budget and your dreams. Often there is such an option. Sure, I could probably afford the original chandelier if I really wanted it, but I spend my money on other things. I believe high end designers understand this.
