Hello AT,
I am facing a challenge to divide my Den area so I am hoping you can give me some advices here.
I recently moved into my new place that has a Den area.
My original idea is to build a movable wall so I can section the area off when I need some privacy or for an overnight guest.
Also, I want to be able to push all the panels aside so they stack up against the wall on the right so I have one big flowing space again...
(Note: Include a pic of your problem and your question gets posted first.)
I hired an architect, but we unfortunately hit some design issues and the project is stalled (hence all the frame and building materials you see on the photo).
My goal is to try to finish off the movable wall, but not sure what is going to happen. But I want to see if you have any suggestion for me in terms of how you would section the area off.
I dont' want to build a drywall to completely section off the area as the corner space provides a lot of lighting with all the windows so the solution has to be "movable" when necessary.
Thanks! Gina
You don't say whether you need a separation for sound as well as sight. If it is just visual, why not a shelf that pivots open and closed where the supports are not related to having a "back"? Curtain panels would also work. Semi-sheer if others have need of light in the living area. If you need the sound cut off, go for your movable walls as planned or eek out more storage with sound panels on the backs of shelves that (again) pivot. (I hate missing an opportunity for more storage.) You could add some rolled out cork to the backs and use them for pinning up inspiration for your work.
Just speculating on your behalf for fun.....

Hafele's Hangar system is great solution for your space:

I would use the sliding door wall as an opportunity to bring in color/texture or art to create a wonderful backdrop for your living area.
Sometimes delays are a good thing - gives you time to really evaluate the plan for your space.
Hope this helps,
Lynne
